After placing an order end December with a local dealer, I received a card from Toyota TODAY enclosing a key ring and the message, "Your new Prius request is confirmed." Anyone else had a card like this? And if it takes two months just to confirm my order, should I be worried?
It doesn't sound like we can make you anymore worried than you already are. And I'm surprised they didn't send you a glossy photo of the car you have on order as well...Isn't that kinda cruel and unusual to send you a keyring to a car you don't have?
About a month ago there were reports that Toyota was collecting orders from all the dealers and were going to send status letters out to those people still waiting for a Prius. A dealer mentioned to me that once Toyota sorted out the people with multiple orders, they were going to start mailing out "gifts" to people still on a waiting list. It looks like the keyring is the (first) gift. It is sad thats its taken them this long to do something, but dealing with the high demand of the Prius is not a trivial issue. The people who have orders in at 5+ dealership it makes it even trickier -- since Toyota doesn't know exactly how many cars they really need to produce.
Got the same card today. It makes sense that Toyota had to try to figure out how many multiple orders from the same person there were out there. So, now the next strategy is to start using different names on the multiple orders for the really devious!
got my keyring today. took a while to fight the card to let go of it, thanks to whatever supergluerubber they used to hold it on. but the card did include an 800-number for customer relations... i think i'll try them later today [just realized the time...] i'll take this as a good sign, though my vmail to the dealer today didn't prompt a reply as to where i am on the list as of this month. +af
Toyota's even running a bit late with the keyrings! I received my new Prius two weeks ago and the keyring arrived yesterday!
I received the same note and key ring in the mail today. I picked up my car on February 26th. I guess Toyota is a little behind. I'm glad to have another key ring though. Jeff
My order went in 1-5-04. Haven't heard zip. At this point even a card or a key ring would be "something". :guns:
hmm never received a keyring or card, but did get my seaside after a 4 month wait... with toyota keychains for each fob!
I placed my order back in Nov. and havent' heard anything yet. no keyring & no car. Although i'll be checking my mail with anticipation instead of bothering my salesman now
I placed my order on 10-27-03 , picked up my car on 2-25-04 and received my key chain today. It is a very nice key chain but I'm glad I got my car first.
order 12/24/03.... date 03/17/04.... no keychain.... no car.... dealer has no clue..... but car was to arrive in port LA 2/23/04 and had temp VIN to prove it. gosh toyota. thanks! ah well.... life goes on. I'd whinge but.... wouldn't it help. cas (tideland 7 12/24/03 and waiting)
Just to round this out (as there seems to be just about every other variation), I have two keychains, zero Prius. Anyone have two Prius but no keychain?
Received my keychain yesterday. Placed my order on 11/21/03. Ordered any package except the Nav system. Live in Santa Barbara, Ca. Was told I have a wait of a month to a month and a half. By the time I receive my Prius it will almost be a year old.
Placed my order on October 10, 2004 and my car is due in the end of this month. Got the envelope from Toyota Prius Program Headquarters today. Only thing is, the envelope was completely empty. Pulled the ripcord, peeked inside and nothing. Not even a form letter. Just air. Hope this isn't an omen about my expected upcoming delivery.
tag: zero keychain, one prius on the way. send me one of your keychains and i'll let you ride along!
I just got my keyring today. Now what do I do with it? I like my real SS/E key better. I'll put it on my business keys so that I can always remember that I have a hybrid.
I ordered Nov 1, and went to my dealer before March 10 to make sure I was in the database. I am still waiting for the letter. While I will enjoy the keyring, it would be nice just to know that Toyota knows I exist! I hopefully check the mail every day, but so far nothing. I heard on another list that a guy's wife got the keyring 'cause she gave her license for the downpayment, so I was thinking it might be sent to my old address (my parents' addy is on my license); thus, I am looking in two mailboxes with no keychain. No keychain, no car, and no car of the year sticker. Sigh. Sharon
