Soon to be Prius owner - Help needed! Just ordered a 2009 Prius (Canada Premium Package). Going to get it in around mid-December. Been wanting to get this car since I saw it at the auto show 2/3 years ago =) ---------------------------------------------------------- Update: The dealer just called me, saying due to production delay, my Prius won't be available AT LEAST Feburary next year. The choices I have right now is: 1) Get another colour (which I don't really) 2) Wait I'm thinking of waiting. But, with the "rumors" saying 2010 Prius might be due in April, should I just wait for Gen 3 instead? Any thoughts? ---------------------------------------------------- Update 2: I will be getting my 09 Prius next Monday (Jan 19). Guess the low oil price and poor economy helped me out!
Icebird, Congrads! Wonderful choice! You made a very smart choice. You will enjoy the very smooth drive. Have you test driven a Prius before? What car are you currently driving now?
I test drove a used 06 last year, felt pretty good I'm driving a 04 Camry SE right now. Decent gas consumption, but nothing comparable to the Prius!!
Great to hear----I got my 08 Aug 26th and love it. Because Canada only offers 3 models it is challenging to keep up with other post when people say which one of the several they have. Mine is the SE which is far from U.S. base. It has most of the tourning features. Also some of our southern (warmer) friends talk about blocking their grills and using block heaters when it gets below 50f. I will be blocking my grill but it will be for the oc (32f) temps Keep us informed on you milage. I am in Nova Scotia and I am still looking for a km of level rd.
Tough call - waiting is hard, but sometimes worth it. It seems that right now Prii are more plentiful and with the tanking economy you may get a better buy. In the spring, the new toy MAY be out, gas prices will be up, and you will pay a premium price for the car as well as having to wait longer. Good luck whatever you decide.
I'm in Toronto. The reason for the delay is, apparently, Vancouver/BC is having a huge order and the production plant in Japan is allocating their resource on that order instead of Ontario... it's all BC's fault
