I've been waiting for my Touring since 6/14. I'm about to consider a Camry Hybrid. I'm wondering how long did you have to wait?
Have you been contacting your dealer on a regular basis (or visa versa)? 3 months seems an awfully long time (but then again, in CA, we seem to get more Prius' than other states) A quick search on Craigslist shows several in our area. Have you checked yours? Did you leave a deposit and get put on a waiting list? Is the salesperson you worked with still there? You might want to check other dealers in the area (and get your deposit back if you can get the vehicle). Good Luck! PS People do like the Camry Hybrid. In the end, though, I'd be disappointed with a 40 mpg vehicle if I thought I could get a 50 mpg vehicle that fits the same number of people comfortably (and for less $$$).
I ordered mine on April 9th and picked the car up on May 20. The 2009's should be coming out now, and I would think the vehicle would become more available. How often do you contact the dealership?
I just got my Touring on Saturday after a 65 day wait. From talking to a couple of dealers, at least here in California the busy dealerships are averaging 50-60 vehicles every two weeks. In my case, I was given the exact number where I was on the waiting list, and my dealer updated me every two weeks -- they get their allocations on the first and fifteenth of the month. One other thing to note, the cars don't necessarily come in in the order they are on the list, it depends on what options you selected. In my case, the dealers were getting more Touring cars in relative to the number on the liist, and I was only the second spectra blue mica car on the list (which for some reason isn't that much in demand). So I potentially received my car somewhat sooner than someone who was waiting for a silver non-Touring model which is supposedly very popular.
If you are getting a Touring package a TCH can be had for very close to the same money. I got mine for less $300 more than my Touring Package #3, That was a TCH with alloy wheels and blue tooth stereo with 440 watts. I hate to say it But I like the TCH better.
We liked the TCH too, but a hatch and better fuel economy was a must. Still, I was prepared to get one if my wife put down her foot and demanded one instead of the Prius, but after she drove both and crawled around in both, she exclaimed the Prius to be the clear winner. She does like the appearance of the TCH more as do I. But man what a tiny little trunk. It would never have worked for long camping trips.
I think you might be close to getting yours. I put in my order on may 28 for package 5 touring and just like casey123 and sjthespian I received mine this last Saturday and it was really worth the wait. I would take others advice here and keep in contact with the dealer, ask where you are at on the list, get an update on wait time ect. Good Luck
