My 57 year old father is going from his 270hp beast to a decked out 09 package 6 in a couple months! Too bad he'll never get past 45mpg with the way he drives. Any advice to teach a (somewhat) old dog a few new tricks?
Once he starts watching the mileage plummet every time he floors it, he may start to change the way he drives. It gets very addicting when you challenge yourself to get the best mileage you can out of this car. Not to mention the money he'll save in gas.
45 MPG isn't too bad and it is certainly better than 15 MPG. Neicy is probably right, don't say anything to your dad and let the car sneak up on him.
Hey!!! I'm 56 and my husband is 58 and WE had no problems learning how to drive efficiently!! Age isn't the issue. State of mind and the desire to learn is!:tsk:
Ha, well, he's been driving the same way for 40 some years (VROOOOOOM). He'll learn, but he won't like it (at first). He's a brilliant engineer, so the tech stuff and processes aren't the issue. It's the stubborn personality!
If he's an engineer, he doesn't stand a chance: "Resistance is futile..." The Prius will capture him and that will be the end of it. Give him six months and he will be hypermiling. Tom
