funny a testdrive with the VW twindrive diesel hybrid funny because i was reading a time ago that VW stopped this Twintdrive YouTube - Spiegel TV - Testfahrt mit dem Golf TwinDrive a little translition at the end : not before 2014 in production edit english version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcOd_NCbMsU
Hi All, Very nice. The EPA put forward the concept of a Diesel Hybrid for the PNGV (Partnership for a Next Generation Vehicle). The big three all had working prototypes, with the GM (called the Precept - similar to Prius, no?) version doing 80 mpg on the old EPA test specification. The EPA official predicted 80 mpg was possible before the program started. This car goes further, adding in a Plug-in capability.
Excellent. A plug-in diesel hybrid! I sure hope VW gets serious about a production version of this car. After all, they do have to meet the "overall" fuel efficiency and pollution requirements in California. Does anyone on here understand German, and if so, can you tell us what they said about an actual production version?
If this thing ever makes it to the USA I can't wait until the poor suckers that buy one take it into their local VW stealership to have to repaired. They can't even take care of the basic diesels they have in their fleet. Adding hybrid technology and electricity to the equation should be pretty entertaining to watch.
From a longtime VW owner, VW would never sell this car in the USA out of fear that it would actually sell quite well.
