Well, I just took delivery last night on my black 2008 package 2 Prius. Probably paid too much, I don't know, but I didn't pay as much as some of the dealers around here are selling used ones for! I did buy the warranty, got 600 off of the price, oh well, live and learn. I had rented a Prius back in April to take a trip. Put 2200 miles on it and averaged 51 mpg. Turned out I really liked the car and started shopping when I got back. Of course that was the wrong time as now everyone seems to want one. I did plunk down $500 deposit to get on a list and waited about 2 months........could have had one sooner, but I held out for a color I liked. And told them right out I had no use for anything other than a package 2. My "other" daily driver is a 96 Indy Ram pickup, getting 17 mpg is nopt good for taking trips, or simply driving 26 miles to work. I'll keep it because there are times I just need a truck. I've also been nursing along a right hand drive 98 Legacy with 160,000 miles.......... I needed something to get good mileage, and something dependable, and above all something I'm comfortable in room wise............and this was it. I may not be a typical buyer.......... I'm a car enthusiast. Generally classic cars from the 60's and 70's and own 8 of them. I lusted after a new Challenger, but somehow I went practical for once...... Maybe its the techno nut in me, but after driving one for a week, I just had to have one.............. Joined the group to learn more....................
Welcome to PC. Congrats on your new Prius! If you're a techno-nut you are in the right place. Check out some threads from the technical forum and some of the links listed on this little gem: http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...ilability-reference-aid.html?highlight=stages
And I need technical help already............... My wife locked the key in the car already.......... And when we picked it up, it only had one key and the dealer said he would order me one. Can AAA get in? Do I have to have it towed to dealer? Am I screwed........... 3rd day of ownership and driving the old car again.............
Welcome and congratulations! I bought my Prius for my commute but it is such a nice car and a technical wonder. You will really enjoy getting to know your new Prius -- if you can get into it again. Doesn't Toyota have roadside coverage for the first year? The dealer should probably help since they gave you only one fob so I would check with them first and ask them about the roadside assistance if they are reluctant. A locksmith can get into your car regardless -- I don't think the slimjim works on a Prius.
Dealer gave her a regular key to get in. And called a bit later to make sure she got in alright, and to tell her they "found" the missing key........ I went to pick up the extra smart key, the salesman greeted me at the door and came out to see if it worked OK and how I liked the car......... I'm happy and driving again..............
