Being a new Prius owner since May of 2008 at the age of 61 I've noticed that the people I see driving other Prius are most often around my age. This raises the question, what is the age of Prius owners?
Prius is my first car, and I love it. I do see alot of elderly people driving Prius's but I think its pretty cool that they drive around in Prius's rather than ole' Buicks .
I'd say the poll results make sense. The younger end of your poll, typically don't have a lot of money for an expensive NEW car, and as we've seen the Prius is NOT depreciating fast at all, so not many used ones available in the price range that age group can afford. As for the over 70's, they may not see a reason to buy a new / another car at that age. Had to stop my Dad from driving last Sept., he is 81 (lives with me). He is still upset about that.

I think the younger end of your poll just dont want to drive Prius's because they wish to retain thier dignity.
I agree with "Freedom," it probably has to do with money, but I will add in, what is "hot." Maybe it just doesn't excite young people enough to buy one. It is a good idea, but doesn't have the speed and sound systems.
What a totally stupid thing to say. Completely and utterly devoid of useful input. Why did you even post?
Hi All, This poll only determines the age of Prius owning Prius Chat participants. Not Prius owners in general.
Well, I'll be 70 in November and it was a Prius or another BMW motorcycle. All my friends said to get the car, so I did and now that I have the Prius I am still thinking about a BMW R1200 RT motorcycle. $23,000. lol
My observations match those of the original poster and I'm not surprised by the poll results (granted: the poll only reaches PriusChat participants). Another possibility for the interest among the "over 50 set" could be that we (I'm 61 BTW) grew up during the Age of Aquarius. Many folks of our generation were among the first to worry about the state of our planet and the effects of pollution. One of my chief reasons in purchasing a Prius was the fact that it is greener than the cars I've always driven.
