Just loaded up my brand new Seaside Pearl with the first set of CDs. These included Miles Davis "In a Silent Way" and "Kind of Blue" Country Joe and The Fish "Electric Music for the Mind and Body" -Richard (I wonder if my music gives away my age  )
I can't quarrel with any of those. All good. But one of the first songs my Prius will play when I get it will be Queen's "I'm in Love with my Car"
Is Queen’s You're My Best Friend on that CD too? Some of the equally apropos lyrics . . . Ooh you make me live Whatever this world can give to me It's you you're all I see In rain or shine You've stood by me girl I'm happy at home Whenever this world is cruel to me I got you to help me forgive And I love the things I really love the things that you do.
Goughy... Good music is timeless. Had some Miles (Porgy) on my last 2000 mile trip, plus some Maynard Ferguson, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman... you get the picture MrMel - Little Red 2005, since Oct 17, 9000+ miles.
Of course, though it would be interesting to see how many Prius owners are Jazz-lovers or "remember" the late 60s  My subconscious must have chosen the three titles I mentioned, for their connection to the car. Fortunately I don't own any "AC/DC" -Richard
Hi All Cat Steven's Peace Train on Best of Cat Stevens is what is in there now. I will also be listening to The Mama's & The Papa's, Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship, Cher's Believe & Reba Mcintyre Best of. Of course the first cd I ever put in her was Nirvana's In Utero (to amuse my stepson). Usually, I keep everything off so that I can just enjoy the lack of noise in the car. Take care, Tisza
The Dead's Sugar Magnolia while 'briskly' accelerating "She jumps like a Willys in four wheel drive she can make happy any man alive"
Yanni "Nightbirds" for the AM drive to work with a number of Latin CD's, salsa, Ricky Martin, etc. PM drive home? Soothing Music instrumental stuff, sometimes Gregorian Chant, Gershwin, Enya. Big band jazz, blues end the list. There is nothing on commercial broadcast radio I want to listen to. We have a "sixties classics" station that plays the tunes in a two or three hour loop of lesser hits, rap, whatever passes for rock these days and wall to wall so called country. Two public radio stations, one plays occasional classical stuff (good) and a strange assortment of everything else not avaliable commercially, (weird). The other public radio station does modern jazz (no!) and blues (yes!) There is a bluegrass station that is so far away it fades in and out. Overall, there just isn't much there, so I seldom tune in the radio to anything now. The quiet of the Prius is sometimes acceptable vs my CD selections. I have the seven CD gift set of Mehdi on order now, along with a couple more of Yanni.
I'm addicted to music & constantly changing cds so here is what's in my cd book now: Tori Amos The Beekeeper Ani Difranco Knuckle Down Muse Absolution Modest Mouse Sparklehorse Louis XIV The Album Leaf Grandaddy Joseph Arthur Redemption's Son Pete Yorn (guy in avatar) Garden State Soundtrack Frou Frou Damien Rice The Walkmen Idlewild Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Does anyone know about Fisher, the band who recorded the "Beautiful Day" song featured on the Prius commercial? Previously, someone had said that the song would appear on their upcoming album, but that was quite some time ago.
A must have album for any Prius owner (or music lover) is British Sea Power's "The Decline of British Sea Power". Other than being a freakin great CD, the song Childhood Memories (which is a freakin great song) has some amazing Prius-related lyrics.. such as... Jesus the weather was so good today But I believe a change is on the way And a little electricity won't hurt And no a little electricity won't hurt Especially when we're all out of gas And coal and oil, and steel and cash But a little electricity wont hurt And no a little electricity wont hurt

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(heliotropehead\";p=\"72103)</div> What have you been doing in my car!!! You have excellent taste in music. I am addicted to Garden State (among others).
Thanks! I love Garden State and the soundtrack is as close to perfect as a soundtrack can be. It's right up there with Donnie Darko. Here's a few more: Wilco, The Shins, Clinic("Come Into Our Room" is perfect for Prius commutes on cold mornings) & The Futureheads. Happy Friday!
