What did you trade in when you bought your Camry Hybrid?

    Hey there Everybody!
I am the proud owner of a new 2007 (3 weeks old) black Toyota Camry Hybrid. I love this car. In July 2006, I traded my trusty and beloved 1997 Mercedes-Benz E320 on a new Volvo S40. I loved my Benz... and, like an old friend, I was sorry to see him go. But with the car only getting 17 MPG on premium, and iminet repairs piling up like I-Phone buyers at a 10% off sale... it had to go. So I compromised and bought a brand spanking new 2006 Volvo S40. Thinking hey, A near luxury european sedan, sporty, better on gas... fun to drive, the S40 seemed like a logical choice. I figured I'd be happily motoring for at least 3-4 years. Well, 14 months and numerous repairs later (things like inoperative air bags, jamming seat belt, dead CD changer, courtesty lights dangling by the wires, windows binding, ect ect ect), I have now found bliss in my new 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. My Volvo was pretty much loaded, minus leather (which I did not want anymore, too much to care for), yet even w/ a sticker of 29K... it was missing key items that my Benz had like an auto dim rearview mirror. When I found my black TCH (the last of three remaining 2007s on the lot) I was thrilled. Having done my research I knew the Camry Hybrid was quite well equipped (many of the standard items not even available in the Volvo) Not five minutes into looking at the car... the quality difference was more than apparent. Doors that do not have to be slammed to shut properly. REAL carpeting (the Volvo had felt, not cut pile), controls that operate smoothly and intuitively. Having owned an older Lexus ES300... I am familiar w/ Toyota quality and comfort, but wow... what a difference even a decade can make. The TCH, especailly compared to the Volvo... feels every bit like a luxury car. Controlled, serene ride. Excellent interior silence, a great JBL sound system (w/ MP3, sat, aux input). Puts the "premium sound" (part of a $1,950 premium package) in my S40 to shame. The TCH is, in my opinion, a lot of car for the money... and then is a technical and economical marvel to boot. So... hence the question: What did you trade in to buy your new Toyota Camry Hybrid? I bet we will be suprised, since the TCH (except for the Altima which is available in only a few states) is the largest and most opulent hybrid sedan for under 50K. I moved from a Volvo w/ pleasure.

Might get razzed on this one a little but my wife loved the look of the TCH so we traded both our prius's for one Blue TCH 4 her and a motorcycle for me. Miss my prius badly but the bike is really worth it in the fun factor.

Already owned a 2007 Prius package 6. OUr 2002 Hyundai XG350L got totaled....... Liked the Prius and wanted another hybrid but wanted a bigger car for the family. Got 2008 Camry Hybrid. Got every optiion available, as we did on the Prius. We love it! Average 35-37 mpg overall driving in that large a car. Lots better than the HYundai @ 24 mpg. Also, price was great. Bought it in April. The dealer found one within 120 mi. exactly like we wanted and a great deal to boot. List was almost 32K, as a repeat customer (3rd car) we got it for 29,900. That is only 1700 more than we paid for the Prius in June of 2007. Maybe not as good gas mileage, but more car, luxury and options for a little bit more change.

Traded in my 2002 Lexus LS430 for a 2008 White HyCam.

It joins the current fleet of:

    2007 Rav4
    2006 Prius
    2004 Sienna AWD
    2000 Audi A6 Quattro

I did not get the built in GPS system (a first) and opted for the new DASH gps.

The HyCam is three weeks old and this tank so far i am getting 42.5mpg overall.

Similar to the 1st post, my 4-year lease on my 2005 Volvo S40 T5 (not AWD) with 86000 kms ended. The buyout was C$26000 but checking on Bluebook numbers, should only be around C$20K, so, went hunting for a new vehicle. With the help of my friend in LA who's got a 2004 Prius, decided to go GREEN! Last Monday, I became the proud & happy owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid with NavPkg ... LOVE IT!!! My last check on the Volvo - 19.5MPG (on Premium, too) - hoping to at least cut that in half, aiming for 40MPG (vs Mfr's est 50MPG).

    oops--editing becasue I didn't see the "Camry" above--sorry.
2003 Subaru Legacy wagon. I'd had two previous Subaru wagons (95 & 96), and liked them, but the 2000-2005 (or so) series was a "disimprovement" and put me off of them probably for good. So glad to see the back of that car. Very uncomfortable, terrible ergonomics, underpowered--worst of all is the poor gas mileage--24 tops. They are little tanks in winter--but it finally dawned on me that it is stupid to haul around the AWD mechanism the whole rest of the year. If Subaru had any sense, it would abandoned the AWD in every vehicle and have AWD on demand--Subaru is simply uncompetetive these days. We'll see how I do this winter with a Prius with (maybe) snows, but it's all about efficiency and with over 50mph showing consistently on my screen, I'll adjust to less winter mobility when I have to. Who hasn't already cut back on driving anyway, Prius or no Prius?

I traded my 1993 Volvo 940 turbo to the junk yard. I had been on a waiting list since May 20th and had to get something right away last Monday. I got a TCH and I Love It! I am on my third Tank..yes I drive alot, and got 36+ on my first tank with in town driving. My second got 42+ mostly country road driving up to 65 mph and 42+ on my third driving mostly highway up to 65mph. For me it was well worth the hit on mileage for what this car gives you over the Prius. That is for me like I said ..Prius is great but for me this is a better choice.

Black (never again) 2001 Audi TT 225. Great to drive (4WD) but not very good mileage, reasonably reliable but ridiculous service $ when needed...

Shouldn't this thread be on a Camry forum instead of the Prius forum?

Traded 2004 Prius for a 2007 HyCam, when the Prius still had high resale value. The 1 year I thought I would have to wait for the new model then turned into 2 years!

My wife had an '97 Audi A4 for 12 yrs. She loved it and was only considering an Audi and a Volvo. Before she decided, I suggested she take a look at a Toyota Camry Hybrid, just for fun (actually, it was just a chance for me to test drive the car as much as anything else). She did and she bought it! Five months later, I traded in my 04 CR-V, which I was also very happy with (except the gas mileage), for a 2010 Prius III-NAV.

So now we are an all-Toyota, all-hybrid family!!

The day after Thanksgiving '07 I traded in an '06 Scion xB for an '07 Camry Hybrid, which I traded in a year later for an '08 Highlander Hybrid Limited. Almost 10 weeks ago I traded that in for my '10 Prius.
