It looks like URLs coming from search pages won't work for some reason. I usually use "View Posts Since Last Visit" to see what's new, and that function won't work now. The problem seems to be the ?highlight= directive at the end of the URL, added by the search page. http://priuschat.com/forums/february-mpg-a...html?highlight= This URL gives me a blank page. http://priuschat.com/forums/february-mpg-a...ges-vt6756.html This URL gives me the page I wanted. I'm not sure what changed, but it wasn't like this last night...sorry I can't be of more help... --Spence
Same. It's funny that you started the subject with "?highlight=" because to see some pages, I have to get into the URL and delete everything from that point to the end in order to view the page.
well, clicking on the orange thing to see the latest posts still work. That's how I get around the problem
Thx for the tip - it's been driving me nuts all morning as it's normally how I browse posts as well. I'm sure Danny will fix soon enough.
I was just looking at my post list, then going back to search in the fourms and picking out the ones I remembered. Kind of going around in circles, but the only way I knew how at work. Like to keep up on what is going on while there, keep extra browser open.
Hmm... let me do some research and try to figure out what happened. Can anyone give me a timeframe for when this started? Before 11am EST today or after?
pretty sure it was before. I may be hallucinating, but I think I ran into this late last night (Pacific time.)
I'm pretty sure it wasn't doing this when I left work at 11 PM Friday night, but it was doing this when I came in at 12:30 PM Saturday afternoon. (central time) I've heard some of these forum exploits use the highlight function, so maybe a recent security update introduced this problem. Perhaps that security update wasn't counting on custom forum code which adds ?highlight= to the end of search result URLs, I suppose. No idea, just guessing.
Yeah, I agree with Tideland. Friday night I was trying to catch up and figured my browser was messing up. Didn't think anything of it until I saw mspencer's post on Saturday.
Still doing research on the problem - it seems to point back to a cache problem, but I don't want to clear the cache and recompile during our "busy" load times. Maybe tonight I'll try it.
Here's my time reference. When PC was down, came up with several days missing, that's when I noticed the problem. I had become accustomed to "View posts since last visit" for reading the new postings. Immediately (after the "recovery") I noticed the blank page on any article I tried to read from the "since last visit" result page. No problems anywhere else. Hope this helps.
Danny, Any luck fixing the problem? Have you tried renaming the search.php file to a backup and re-uploading a clean version from the integramod install archive? Dave
I think I read that Danny's gone for the weekend -- I expect it will be cleared up early next week. In the meantime, I'm clicking on the little orange squares under "New Articles" -- that seems to defeat the problem.
It seems to me that threads I've already visited - this one for example - come up correctly. But when I view a thread for the first time, I have to "tweak" the URL. I find that rather interesting.
I think Danny is fatally infected with March Madness. It seems to be a reoccurring ailment. It got so bad last year that he ended up in Seattle, no telling where he will surface next. Needless to say it may take some time to fix this minor problem.
Ah, gotcha... Missed that note from him. I think Danny is also using Apache's mod-rewrite to adjust the URLs on the website, which could also be the problem. Dave.
Dave - Thanks for pointing that out - I think I have narrowed it down to a problem with Apache's mod-rewrite function. I was messing around with a piece of that last week and that could be the source of the issue. I'll see about tackling that tonight. And yes - I was on my deathbed with March Madness in Charlotte all weekend for the 1st and 2nd rounds. Next year, San Diego! Who wants to plan a meet?
