Hey Ya'll. I hope I have VERY good news for three of you! I just left My dealership to check on my prius on order status and they have 3 ON THE LOT AND THEY ARE AVAILIBLE!!. My salesman said they had a $3,000 market adjustment and have scared people away. They are selling these at MSRP! They are all 1224 PKG#2's. This is at Harrelson Toyota of Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is about 20 minutes south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Call (803)328-2886 and ask for Dan Pawlowski. If you don't mind please tell him that Garry told you about it and I will get a finders fee. As a footnote I am not working for this dealership and am just trying to help someone out. Hopefully they will still be there for you!
Thanks for the tip... I called mid morning and all three cars had been sold. Really nice guy .....not exactly MSRP. They add a dealers fee of about $600.00. Almost all dealers have this kind of fee but there are some MSRP dealers that will sell at MSRP period plus tag, and tax. Regards, Don
Dang..Sorry to hear they were gone! Yes they do charge a dealer fee. I thought that was normal for all dealers so I did not mention. I am going to call Dan today and ask him to call me if anymore become availible. I will post them and also PM you if they do. Good luck with your search.
Check out Stokes Brown in Beaufort SC. They charged me msrp and no dealer fees. Probably have to wait for one though. I did, order 5/17 and received 6/20. They were very fair and straightforward, no bait and switch or any tricks at all really.
It's not normal. The dealer fee is the profit the make on the car which is even more the difference between MSRP and invoice as they get additional kickbacks by the manufacturer once a vehicle is actually sold. The only dealer fee that I've seen that is consistent across the board is a nominal documentation fee as long as it doesn't run more than $50. Some dealers try to charge $700+ for their doc fee.
Every Toyota dealer in the Charlotte area that I have talked to (5 so far) charge a dealer fee. So far, Harrelson appears to be competitive on that level. The others were more expensive (only two other dealers would say what their dealer fees actually were).
