Macintosh or Personal Computer

Undergrad I used a Mac... bought a Dell my senior year and used it through 4 years of grad school... last year I switched back and bought a Powerbook. I love my Powerbook... I wrote my dissertation on it. We have a Windows XP PC at home that my boyfriend built (along with a Linux machine that acts as our iTunes music server). He had a PC Thinkpad from work (software consultant), but after he quit he got an iBook. He just started at Dell, so he has a Dell laptop now too.

 

That is a trick question for me. My home PC runs Win ME(Gateway PII,266mghz,128 Ram) and my laptop that I use at work and in the evenings while watching the tube runs Win 98SE(Sony PIII,450mghz,192 Ram).
I bought a new motherboard(Intel 915 series) of eBay in Dec to build a new home PC. But now everything keeps coming up and taking my money! Have in mind a 3.2(was going 3.4 but more $$$) with 512(or 1G)of ram,Nvidia 6600GT video card,2x 80GB(maybe 120GB)hard drives. Unsure if going with Win XP or Media Center. Still learning all I can because this will be my first build up.

 

Mac, though with User accounts on X and XP they are both more and less personal.

PC Windows XP(Work) & MAC OSX(Home)

 

Home built PC Tower, and a PC laptop, both with XP.
My next system will (80% sure) be a mac laptop of some type.

Er, where's the "other" option? My main machine is neither a PC nor a Mac.

Bloomin' Mac users assuming they're the only sort of machine in existence - just as bad as the PC users.

 

I am forced to use a Windows box at work. I just looked it is a Dell. I have been using a Mac since February 29 1984 for everything else in my life. They will take my single button mouse when the pry it from my cold dead fingers! OS X rocks! The iMac at home has run continuously for 4 years with out a crash. Has been turned off a few times for electrical storms and has had the OS updated regularly. I stood in line at the Apple Store for the release of Panther and it was a hoot. Cars cruising by asked us what we were waiting for we told them Panther and they looked puzzled and asked what's that. In coirs a operating system. They were even more puzzled.

 

I'm running linux (Ubuntu, Suse and Clark Connect) on all the PC's I own (uh that would be all 6 of them) :-P

 

I rely on a stable platform that is not subject to viri or crashes and is Unix-based: Mac OSX. Being able to synchronize my desktop between home, work and on the road makes life so much easier. I can run Wintel or Basic software when I need to - no limitations. Automatic weekly software updates keep things running smoothly. Nice.

At home I have a PowerBook running OSX Panther and a homebuilt PC tower running XP Prof. At work I have a Win XP Prof machine and a Win NT4 machine.

 

PC with Winblows 2000. I had to choose "other."

Of all the Winblows platforms, it seems to be the most stable, and take the most abuse, so I've stuck with it.

My Laptop has Winblows XP in it. I went to load a large quantity of MP3's to play like a jukebox at work, and locked the machine up so bad, that the only way to unlock it, was to pull the battery. It's been acting strange ever since. Now it's in the shop getting fixed. I do like warranties.

 

No surprise that so many Prius owners are Mac users.

Actually if you have an AMD 64 you cannot get viruses. There are like 1 or 2 viruses for macs
