Has anyone used the "Nav-Mat Portable GPS Dash Mount" manufactured by a company named Bracketron? It is essentially a weighted non-skid pad that contours to fit the dash, with a flat disk in the center to which the GPS's windshield suction mount is attached. Looks like a no-brainer but before I buy I thought I'd ask the astute users of this forum. Thanks Arne
My Garmin C320 stays affixed to the bean bag's disk for about 30 minutes before falling off. Before I return the bean bag is there anything I can do to get better adhesion?
maybe wet wipr both the suction cup and flat spot before connecting? Could be the flat panel isnt totally flat and a good seal isnt forming too. Thats why I didnt get one. I hate when stuff doesnt work for me.
Hmmm I have one of those bean bags and I think it works great....Would seem more an issue with the suction cup than the base. I was concerned the bag would slide off the dash with sharp sornering, or sudden stops. Has not happened....
I bought it for $23 on Amazon with $0 shipping (it arrived at my office within a week). High quality and works perfectly. No more crummy circle stains on my windshield that just scream, "THIEVES, HEY, THERE'S A GPS UNIT SOMEWHERE IN THIS THING. COME LOOK FOR IT!"
i seem to get better suction with the standard windshield mount i got with my tom tom, if i lick it before attaching it to the window. i have had it fall off a few times and luckily i havent broken the lcd yet. knock on wood
I have an ac vent clip coming and depending how that works may get a proclip system. I wish the window suction up mount would fit in the driver side triangle window and orient forward. I shall have to see.
I also bought the Garmin friction mount for about that price at Amazon. I've only used it twice so far (I bought the gps unit last week) but it looks like it works well.
I've taken some hard, sharp turns (hypermiling noob) and the thing didn't move a centimeter. Well worth it, especially for the portability and piece of mind when parking in cities.
Thanks for the advice. A bit of water seems to have solved the problem. The bean bag with the Nuvi seems to bounce around a bit as the Nuvi doesn't have much weight but it doesn't move with the StreetPilot stuck to it. The Garmin dashboard mount seems to be built for the Nuvi. Right now I'm happy with my choice.
Thanks for putting me onto the Navmat. I bought one and it works great! Sure beats having my Garmin keep falling off the windshield.
