I know I do. I never felt this way about a car. Is this THE ONE. Will we be hitched forever? Although, then I think, #1 in satisfaction in Consumer Reports, and I wonder, does my Prius make everyone feel this way. Is my Prius cheating on me?
Just remember that every relationship has its ups and downs. You'll have days that you treat her with indifference, letting her go out in public looking dirty and she'll have days when she'll resist having her tank filled by you, but you two should have a nice long relationship as long as you both work at it. Keep in mind that you're still in the honeymoon phase - it's no longer a new car the first time you break wind in her...
Yes - I pay the bills & buy the gas. She sits in the garage like a pampered princess. (In fairness, she will take me where I want to go & does her part to save $$ on gas.)
That would be a 'tough' love for any cars...unless you never planned to drive outside. But the relationship will change (or stress-relieved) after you got the first door dent, paint chip or windshield chip/crack.... Five years later, you'll be tempted to have a new one, since this one was turned out to be just a car....afterall.
Two weeks in, it's still cute how it chirps when it sees me and lets me right in. Maybe in a few years that same old chirp won't be cute any more, it'll be naggy. I've already tried (just once) to walk right into my house without using the key. The house was having none of that.
I already disabled the back up beep. I guess I can't quite accept her just as she is, I am already trying to change her.
I've always had relationships with my vehicles. My DH now drives the Grand Lady, the Buick, which is our first truly sentient car. Rudy is "waking up"... gaining his personality. He has a few rock chips. But I still think he's cute!
I would not say I have a relationship with my car, but my Wife and 2 kids are extremely jealous. Go figure? They say I spend too much time playing with the Prius. To my defense, I only spend my spare time with the car. ---Kent
