The dealer where we purchased our Prius wants $320 to treat/protect the upholstery. It has a 7-year guarantee against permanent stains. I think its way overpriced and that we could find a product to do the same thing and do it ourselves. My wife likes the warranty part. Any thoughts?
Gimmick, plain and simple. If you try and do a claim on the warranty they will find some way to weasel out of it. If you want to protect it buy a few cans of Scotchguard and spray it down yourself.
I paid $200 from my dealer for this, mostly because we have a almost 2 year old boy and well, kids make messes. I bought a couch last year and didn't pay the $200 for fabric guard and wish I had. Its now a complete mess...... I don't know how well the cans of Scotchguard work and don't know how hard a claim is, but hope I don't have to find out.
