After reviewing many different cars and test driving them all, I finally decided that the Prius was best for me. So, I went to my dealer and plonked down a deposit and was told it should be here in three months because I am getting the BC 6. Jeez, I've never had to wait for a car before. And as exciting as this car is, this wait is going to drive me bonkers. Oh well, gives me more time to daydream about what I am going to do to it when I finally get it. Where's my instant gratification?!? How did any of you get through the wait?
Three months is a more reasonable wait these days. (It wasn't that long ago it was 6 to 9+) Anyway, if you want to shorten it, many have been successful in calling around or emailing several dealers in a given area and finding a car available. It seems more often these days cars are showing up on lots at some dealerships. As far was what to do while you wait... Hang out here and learn all you can about your expectant Prius.
I was told my wait would be 6-9 months. It turned out to be 8.5 months. Yes, it's very frustrating, but as another poster's license plate states, "Worth the wait"
This is the therapy I would recommend. First visit PriusChat often. Go to http://techinfo.toyota.com/ and down load the owners manual and commit it to memory. Go to http://john1701a.com/ let the master begin your conversion when you are ready to snatch the pebble from his hand you will be ready. Don't listen to me I am just shooting from the hip or not.
Or you can check other dealers around you- there may be some on the lots- There are even ones on the lots in Southern CA! Dianne, the Empress of Prius , also has some!

The dealer where I got mine a year ago has two on his lot (as of last Sat). Rountree Auto, Bellows Falls VT. Tom
It is Wednesday afternoon, 9 March 2005 in NZ. I was told my new baby was ready to be picked up tomorrow. Having psyched myself up to wait until then, I rang on the off chance that it would be ready today. GASP, HORROR, there has been a slippage, not ready until Friday - I am gutted and have got that feeling you get when you have to go to the dentist. How can I get through one extra night? This is killing me and I have only had to wait less than 2 weeks - I would NEVER get through the months that some of you have.
Addison, I think the suggestion that you spend lots of time here is a good one... Club, thanks for the pulg I have a 1951 Ford pickup and as my wait was in the summer I was able to drive it while I waited 59 loooooooong days... I also came uo with the plate that now is on my Prius WRTHAW8.. Worth the Wait... since I got my car the 51 sits in the garage.... Bob Andersen
I've been lurking around here for awhile and some of the info I've read and things I have heard from current owners had helped cement my decision in getting the Prius. That, and the test drive. Funny thing about the the test drive was the sales woman apologized twice for taking me out in semi-rush hour traffic. For me, that was the perfect test ground for the car because that's what I would be primarily driving in. SOLD! So, I intend on keeping tabs on priuschat whilst I kill time waiting for the car. I have thought about trying to visit other dealers in my area, but the problem is that it can be real hit or miss. As for looking for out of state dealers, it's not going to be feasible in the end because of my trade-in and the distance. So, I just have to resign myself to the wait. AAAAAARRRRGGGGHH!!!
