I ordered, received and installed the ultimate lockpick 3+ for my 2008 prius a few months ago. Everything works fine. during the install I was able to pull up the DVD video player screen but I a never bothered to try and actual DVD until a week or so ago, and guess what.. IT DOESN'T WORK.. I have the DVD player screen and all the controls but the system acts like I don't have a DVD installed. I've tried several different DVD's and still no luck.. Has anyone ever had a similar problem? AM I doing something wrong? ANY help would be appreciated.
More info please... AFAIK, the NAV DVD reader doesn't have the chipsets to play DVD video. You have to use your own DVD player and feed the Video to the display...
i am going to have to agree with this. the nav dvd player is located under the driver's seat and has no ability to play video dvds. the lockpick was meant to be used with your own external dvd player or an iphone/ipod/whatever. sticking a dvd into the car RADIO is sorta humorous when you think about it. BUT BOTH DISCS FIT!!! ;-)
X4. The lockpick 3+ just opens up the ability to take audo/video input from another source. That source can be a video ipod, laptop, DVD player, or any other device. Some of their other products will unlock the ability to play DVD's on the unit itself but this is only if there's a video DVD reader built into the unit already. For example, I have a MyGig unit in my Grand Cherokee that can play DVD's when stationary on the screen. When I'm moving the video disappears and it only plays the audio. With the Lockpick on that vehicle, it unlocks it so I can watch it at any time. Unfortunately the Prius does not have the hardware to play video... so no external box is going to be able to compensate for that... can't unlock something that's no there. Mike
Of course they are .... and worse. Just keep your insurance current, and watch out for this demographic. Sadly, that's about all you can do. ... Brad
Why is this mentioned in every thread that talks about DVD/Game systems in a car???? Get's old real quick. I plan on doing the lockpick on my Prius and putting in either the PS2 or Xbox 360 in, so I have something to do when the wife is driving or play DVD's for my 2 year old on road trips. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Be nice if the topic starter would get back with us, but I'm guessing they were trying to put a DVD in the CD slot since they haven't responded yet.
x2. Everyone assumes that since they don't have the self control to watch a DVD if it were on in front of them while they're driving that everyone is the same way. I for one would be able to completely ignore the display while driving. In fact, my wife had her giant laptop on her lap this past weekend on a road trip and I didn't glance over once. It was angled towards me since she was trying to keep the back of the laptop towards the window to reduce glare. No biggie to me... especially if I wired up a headphone jack so she could use headphones.
