Funny how we get accustomed to little things that make a big difference. I've been playing with my CD player (the stock one) and I'm not finding a search button to scan through a track...I can skip, but I can't just jump through the parts of the songs I don't like. Seems like that'd be easy to find if it was there, but I just wanted to check (this thing has a lot of hidden stuff, so maybe there's a trick to it?) So if I want to install an after-market CD player with more features (or a better system entirely), can I just take the car to Best Buy or wherever, or is this a model that needs some sort of specialist? (Doing it myself is not an option - disaster looms.)
Are the arrows on the MFD touchscreen in the audio screen the only place for us to be able to do a scan? If so, that's a major functional flaw. I would at least like to be able to use the buttons on the dash, or even better, the ones on the steering wheel.
Yes, you must use the multi-information display to seek/review a track. This is certainly not a "functional flaw" but it sounds like it is an annoyance to you. My only advice is to get used to using the multi-information display; you'll need it for advanced audio, climate, and (if equipped) navigational functions. Adding a new CD player is not as easy as it might seem. Unless the new device supports AVC-LAN (IEBUS) and is recognized by the multi-information display, you will be unable to use any of the Prius' built-in buttons to control the device. This is typical of many cars today.
Well, I don't mind, except for the fact that I have to lean slightly forward and to the right to keep the button held down on the display to scan. Kind of a driving hazard. OK, please, no jokes about short arms!
