I was saving these new touring suspension parts to install on the wife's (yet to be purchased) Prius. I have decided not to wait any longer- now for sale. I had the TRD suspension installed at dealer before I picked up my (less than 45 miles) new 07 touring edition last year. Great way to upgrade your ride to the touring edition suspension (front and rear shocks/springs). You can pick them up in the OC- Costa Mesa CA to save shipping. Best price over $250 takes them...
highly interested... could you give me a few more details on those? Isn't there more to the touring than just the shocks / struts and the springs?
Sure, the "touring" suspension package included both the front and rear shocks/ springs and 16" wheels and tires- I am selling the shocks and springs only. This will give you a firmer ride without sacrificing much comfort- you will have a very comfortable ride too. I wanted a REAL firm ride- that's why I switched it out...
$250 is a great deal and I'll take you up on that. I just have a few more things I need to be sure of... 1. My research has found that the front shocks/springs are the same between the non-touring and touring. So I won't need to install the fronts? 2. What are the negative effects of not upgrading the stabilizer bars along with the shocks/struts/springs? 3. My car is an 08 with about 6k miles. What does this do to my warrantee if I get them installed at a legit shop? I'm still searching for these answers... <:0) Once these things are cleared up, I will definitely take your suspension setup.
Great, let me try to answer your questions- but, if I were you, I'd call Toyota support for their answers too: 1) I thought that the front and rear shocks were different for the Touring edition- still- when you have the stiffer springs installed in front- it will not cost anything more to switch out the struts too. That's what I'd do regardless- those shocks/struts and springs were on my car as standard with the Touring pkg. and "work" together. 2)There is no "negative" effects that I can think of- but, you can always add those suspension parts at any time to gain even better handling. 3)These parts are Toyota factory parts and if properly installed (no brainer) should not affect your warranty at all.
I remember a post where someone had done extensive research on the touring suspension. Someone was selling kits and there was a cutoff were the kit no longer required the front parts, just the rear, but I don't remember what the cutoff year was. You should be able to find it with a search on "touring upgrade"
