I just received my insurance premiums for the bi-annual fee from Farmers Insurance. My 2008 Prius package 6 replaced my 2004 Toyota Highlander Limited. The broker's told me I should expect some slight decrease in the premium though he wasn't clear on the specific numbers. We have house/auto coverage with Farmers. We also have no history of claims on either house or auto. I also work 3 miles from my job although I live downtown with indoor parking.
The bill came in about + $17.00 (not a deal breaker)..but....a little concerning.
Before I received the bill I informed him he should make sure he got us the best renewal premium because I wanted to shop the insurance this year.

I thought I read a thread on Prius Chat where Farmers offered a specific discount for Prius or hybrids owners. I did not see any discounts on the bill. I am an AARP eligible so I believe I could get a better auto insurance deal from them although I don't recall AARP offering the auto and home package. I am also interested in Geico if they have the same coverage limits. I am a veteran as well if that counts, insurance-wise. Terry

In California Farmer's (which I have) provides a 5% discount; however, I'm not sure if it's offered in other states.

I just renewed my insurance here in New Mexico, and I did some reasearch into rates before I did. By far the best rate was Hartford through the AARP. MetLife came in second. I do not like the AARP and hate to admit to being old enought to join AARP, but I joined anyway (at a cost of $12) to get the insurance. They do offer a discount if you get both your auto and home through AARP, which I did, but I do not know how much that amounted to.
