About 2 weeks ago I filled up the tank and forgot to manually reset the MPG counter and then noticed that it did it on it's own. For the next week I struggled to get 52 mpg like no other. Yesterday I filled up, reset the counter and almost immediately it was showing 55 mpg +. I haven't changed anything as far as driving techniques. The only thing different is that I manually reset the counter instead of the car doing it. Why would this be different?
if you don't clear the consumption screen, it will automatically reset the mileage, but not the average MPG. in the end, you'll get an average mileage for the total miles driven over both (or more) tanks. so if i drive 500 miles at 50 mpg, don't reset the consumption screen and drive another 500 miles and it shows 55 mpg, then that means you actually got 60 mpg for the second tank, but over the past 1000 miles you were at 55 mpg.
Mine has not been resetting on its own last three tanks and have done it manually. I think it may be it's because we didn't run it down to 1 pip?
