Overnight, our Camry was attacked by a senseless drunk driver going home from a party a few houses up the road. Apparently he hit our car 3 times trying to do a 3 pt turn. The neighbour described it as a silver 80s American hatchback. All I can think of is the Dodge Colt. Could anyone else help me list other hatchbacks made by an American manufacturer?

    Thanks.

Edit: Tried posting a picture but I can't seem to upload it. It would just give me a blank page

The Dodge Shadow was also a hatchback in that timeframe.

I'm aware of the Pacer, never knew there was such a thing called the Gremlin. I doubt these are even available on the used car market here.

Oh well, thanks guys! We've made an appt to see the insurance corp and police on Wed. Hopefully they can catch that kid and charge him with hit & run (and maybe drunk driving but that probably won't happen since we have no proof). I asked about the american hatchback cause the neighbour said if he saw it, he would recognise it but since the person on the dial-a-claim line said the police would be there on Wed too along with the insurance investigators, I guess we'll leave it up to them

    Sorry about that.

Yeah, well he turned himself in... I'm pretty sure that was to avoid the "hit & run" charges. He claimed that he knew about it and was gonna come in and report it anyway... (right.. that doesn't explain the beer bottles littered all over the lawns on our street)

Anyway, so we got his insurance to pay for the repairs.. Pretty hefty price... $6k for the two doors (airbags didn't deploy. I sure hope they checked the sensors).

Can't claim for loss of resale value cause that doesn't concern the insurance company (or so the law goes around here). We'll have to sue him if we wanted to claim for loss of resale value.
