I picked up my Prius April 2, 2004.

    I just passed 19,500 miles.
My commute is 50 miles each way.
However, I can work at home sometimes.
When I reach my 1 year anniversary, I will post one year data for your enjoyment.

(Sneak peek: Lifetime mpg = 48.3, and I have saved $350 compared to my previous vehicle for the same number of miles.)

I picked mine up on Dec 22, 2003. I currently have 29,300 miles on it. It's the best car I have ever owned! My only complaint is that I had to replace the tires about 500 miles ago. I decided to go with the Michelin Hydroedge because of the good ratings. They give slightly lower MPG and aren't any quieter but have awesome traction in both wet and dry conditions and should last a long time with a 760 treadwear rating. Sorry to get off topic.

52 miles to work, 52 back every day, + pleasure driving on weekends = 2,700 per month

I'm at 41,000 miles since October 27, 2003. The only deer so far I couldn't avoid was already dead in the middle of the road, but blocked from my view by a semi. I went right over the top of it and only picked up a few body parts underneath. Had to pop some of the plastic back into place, but no other damage.

A taxi driver just posted on 2G that he's put 120,000 miles on his in about the same time span as I've had mine. I'd say that takes the prize!

my mileage varies a lot from season to season. i drive more in the summer because the weather is better and more condusive to day trips and such. and unlike most other cars ive had, driving the Prius is not a big hassle.

Do you know how often he changes engine oil? 8,000 km (5k miles) interval? I am curious to know if he uses syn oil or regular oil.

this is a copy of my email from Andrew today.

I change the oil every 3 weeks, approx. 8-10,000 km. I also use BG oil treatment which has oil flush and oil treatment. I use the kit at every oil change. The synthetic oil I use is Mobil 1 since the first oil change. I found an improvement of an average 3-5 mpg with the synthetic.

Prius Taxi is 204,000 km which is about 120,000 miles since Dec of 2003. Andrew is a board member of PC but doesn't have a lot of time to "chat" with us he's too busy driving. His car is featured on the PC Calendar. I think he's the month of March as well.
