<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer\";p=\"69060)</div> I was thinking of doing that with my SFBay group. Then i could figure out where to advertise priuschat
Now now, Heliotrope. The point of a national meet-up is not to be more convenient to one person or another, but to be convenient for the largest number of people. Which is why somewhere in the middle of the country, such as Chicago, would be perfect!
At or near the MALL OF AMERICA would count as somewhere in the middle. Of course, that just happens to be 10 minutes from where I live. Someday we may be able to pull it off too. If the participation of the Minnesota Gatherings continues to grow and we are able to maintain routine attendance, then we'd be a natural for planning such an event.
I would be interested in the 2 coast idea... I would drive to Virginia. Maybe down the road after I aquire more annual leave at my job I would do the centralized location. Vegas would definitly be my pick. Tunica, MS is a good place too for casino's... if people aren't into the casino thing, Memphis, TN is very close by and would be a good alternate.
If it's a weekend gig, the very beginning of August is doable for me. Last weeek/weekend in July would be ideal.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(finman\";p=\"69055)</div> I've done LA to VT twice and it is a VERY LONG 6 days - drive 8+ hours every day plus lunch stops. Maybe wouldn't have to gas up the Prius at lunch though Sorry, y'all will have to count me out. Much as I like my Prius, sitting in any car 8 hours a day isn't my idea of fun. Of course if it is everyone else's idea of fun, we can have it in VT. ;-)
I'd give it a go for either East Coast or Mid West but I'm afraid the West Coast may have to wait for my retirement to for me to make the drive. In the past 6 months I've driven to both New Orleans and Key West so I'm well acquainted to chilling in my Prius for several hours listening to XM or books on CD. Oh, and if you do two don't make it the same weekend because Danny has to make both of them!
Right! So it has to be at your place then? Google and read "The Trip to Abilene" if you haven't already. Good thing the Prius has air conditioning. I wouldn't be going anywhere in August without it. Moderately interested as I will be part of a "move back to college" caravan at that time. But back up. What was that about "hotter than Halifax"? Great phrase! Maybe we should just go there (very bicycle friendly also).
hey not fair! i'd love to go to a national prius meet if only i can drive all the way to the mainland!!! too bad our interstate highways here aren't actually interstate!
Hehe, if somebody puts in an offer today on my house, I will still be shacking up with a friend come August.
Is there any way we can prompt registered users to enter in their zip code? We could easily make a national map from that. I noticed a lot of active users don't even have their location filled out.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(amberlea\";p=\"69103)</div> I can see it now - 50 Elvis impersonators in Priuses!
I wish I knew how to do that, dbarry. I must've missed something about Wolfman's house... /running to check out FHOP for the latest gossip
DEAR SWEET LORB YES! This past August I did a road trip of the World's Longest Yard Sale in Tennessee and Kentucky. A Prius meet at either end of that would rule. Other city suggestions, as Vegas really isn't central:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(amberlea\";p=\"69103)</div> Gulf Coast and Pacific coast? Leaves the Atlantic coast people out, doesn't it? I propose the following locations: San Francisco Tampa Dallas or Austin DC Mall of America Pick several locations where everyone is a 600 mile drive away or less, get Toyota and all secondary vendors involved, presto! People will come.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Danny\";p=\"69155)</div> I don't think I've made any official announcement as of current. I've mentioned this in the enviro forum as part of a discussion. All is going to be contingent on me selling my current house, so I've avoided posting any official "I'm moving" types of topics.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Robert Taylor\";p=\"69159)</div> We could call it the "One Tank of Gas Meetup"!
The One Tank Meetup - I love it I've been looking for a reason to approach sponsors to do a Hybrid tour across the country - this is a great one
