At least for me. I had the pleasure of paying $4.99 9/10 for gas on the I-5 at the Grapevine. I litterly ran out of gas and was and was able to coast off the freeway and cripple into the gas station. I didn't have a choice. 10.9 gals. $54 for the tank full. As it turns out I was able to get 54 mpg for 322 miles. I think $6 p/gal gas is not too far off.
Oh Rich you had a choice. 2 gallons and then get on the road. If heading north get off at the 41 exit, $4.50. If heading south put in 3 gallons and that'll get you into LA easily.
I hit $50 on the way from Toronto to Winnipeg this week. Had one good run, 715Km on a tank and it still had some left. Buck
Gas went down today here in Indy (knock on wood) it went from $4.19 yesterday to $3.99 today !!! nooow if I could only get my prius to use these gas prices!
here in vegas it's been holding at 4.21-4.30 for a few weeks or more. Today oil went back up to 141 or so, usualy ping pong effect with that. Hope it does come down, but im not holding my breathe.
crazy idea: if you read the fine print on the dodge refuel america website, it clearly says that if you "dispose" of your dodge, as in sell it or terminate the lease, you get to keep the 2.99 a gallon deal !! u just to watch out for a) the married credit card declining b) if the car you buy uses regular unleaded, you can't use it for diesel unless u pay a transaction fee of $2 and visa versa c) and theres like 10 - 15 cents a gallon extra for midgrade or premium
And your equally lucky you're not buying gas for 50cents/gallon in the middle east where they import most everything else ... and food (for example) takes about 1/2 the average person's paycheck.
10.9 gallons in an 11.9 gallon tank that was empty. Did you actually fill it full or were you hoping to make it to a cheaper station on those 10.9 gallons to finish filling!?! How many miles did you run on blinky? I can only manage to get 7.5 to 8. gallons in ours and we fill around 10 - 15 miles after blinky kicks in. PA P
RichL - I read your post and what struck me as odd was that you purchased 10.9 gallons (for 54.99) and you traveled 322 miles (at 54 mpg). If I understand your post correctly it sounds like you traveled the 322 miles before having to fill up the 10.9 gals. If that is correct doing the old fashion math would indicate that you only got only 29.5 mpg, not 54 mpg.. (322miles /(divided by) 10.9 gal fill up. I would think you should be getting better mpg than 29.5!!
Anyone know why gasoline stations still use the fraction 9/10? Do they really think we cannot round up, or is it that the fraction as significant when gas was < $1 / gallon. Or is it a mind game so the $4.99 looks better than $5.00. P.S. When I told my brother I was going to buy the PRIUS in 2006 because gas was going to be $4/ gallon when I graduated he laughed. I am still 2 years from graduation and it has already hit $4/gallon. He really like my cool PRIUS now.
We have been paying $1.47 CDN for a Litre in Northwestern Ontario for a bit. That WAY over $5/gal usd. Icarus
I am in Los Angeles County and today I have seen between $2.91/gal to $3.05/gal for 87. I fulled up this past Sunday and paid about $28 for about 9 gallons at Shell in La Verne.
