Thought I would be waiting a lot longer but it only took three weeks. When I saw it I had mixed feelings. When I originally decided on a Prius it was for the Touring. Then I heard things and orderd a Silver Pkg2. When ConsumerReports gave it a thumbs up I knew then that I shouldn't have changed my mind, and since the car got here so quickly I decided to change my order and go with a Touring. Let's see if I can get a Touring this quick. If you live in the NE and are waiting on your Prius let's accumulate info on how long it took or taking. Be sure to write date ordered state and if you already got, that date. You can also add any info regarding specific dealer, location, model. Toyota of Watetown Ordered May 23 Got here June 16 Boston MA
Back on the waiting list Silver Touring Pkg 2 Ordered 6/17 Toyota of Watertown expected in 8-10 weeks A pleasure to do business with this saleman. I'm 60 and have bought atleast 5 new cars . This is the first time I didn't get annoyed or angry with the person selling me the car. Paid MSRP PS: salesman is James Hawkins
Ordered Black Touring, Package 6 on April 21st from a Boston Area Dealer. At that time, I made a deposit using my credit card. The following month the charge was on my credit card statement. Now my June statement shows the dealer has made a debit of my deposit back to my credit card. I have called the salesman and asked why my deposit was returned and he states he does not know but that my car is on order and I am number "1". Today I am told I have a 6 to 8 month wait for a Touring! They also state that they do not need my deposit? I am still under the impression I am dealing with a reputable Massachusetts Toyota Dealer, and I am in hopes that the strange things going on with my deposit are just an isolated foul-up. However, I have certainly kept a telephone log of my phone calls to my salesman and have now resorted to following up our conversations with certified mail. My salesman has no idea what a tracking number is and after almost two months has no idea if my car is listed on an allocation. Am I nuts? Or, does anyone else smell smoke from a potential problem? ON A GOOD NOTE! I was travelling North on Interstate 91, out of Springfield, MA and saw a Car Carrier with a full load of Prius (what's the plural of Prius?) parked at a rest area. I think there are a truck load of happy prius owners in Vermont or New Hampshire this week. I have enjoyed the information I have gained from Priuschat.
That does not sound legit... the waits are around 6-8 weeks... when I ordered mine - it took 3 weeks and presto, it came in.. they took a deposit but they did not have a VIN number until the units hit their lot. As you may know, the Prius in made in Japan and then shipped here by cargo ships.. so they have an influx between here and the west coast. The west coast gets them first and us on the east coast get them last. I would go and order another one from another MA/NH dealer... these guys do not sound like they are on the up and up despite how popular this car has become.
Boch Toyota, North Attleboro, MA ordered today June 23 Barcelona Red, Package #3. I'm told 3 to 8 weeks waiting time. Fox Toyota, East Providence, RI Told it would be end of September, early October; AND the price was much higher for the same car. "Claimed" he was selling at MSRP, but since Boch said the same thing . . . .
I am just hoping to see my car next month, which will make it three months. According to my dealer I am Number 1 on the list. Whatever that means. I does not appear that Toyota has a very good tracking system for their dealers. You would think Toyota would know what is getting loaded on there ships and what port on entry they were using.
SandS, you should check with the dealership. From my understanding, a name on the waiting list do not grant you the right to buy a car, especially without a deposit. With the market demand on hybrid vehicle, I can see a dealership will use this advantages to sell car above MSRP (aka Mark up). Don't you think there is a lot of people eager to pay more to get the vehicle first?
Middletown CT Toyota, ordered May 17 a silver pine, pale blue or driftwood. pk 2 was told up to 7 months. got at call today (7/3) that a dark blue one is coming in that I can have. Will have to make up my mind very soon (like in the next hour).
We just put a $500 deposit down at Copeland in Brockton today (07-05-08), and will be leaving a $500 deposit at Toyota of Weymouth next week. We currently have a 2006 Silver #7, and want a 2009 blue or green #5 (We understand they only have 6 packages now). We expect to wait until the fall since there are many more #2 than #5 arriving, and we want the navigation package. Each dealer had a used Prius on their lot for $28,000+, more than we paid for our 2006 new. We also got the $3200 tax rebate in '06. When the fall arrives, we plan on selling our 2003 Town & Country minivan since we no longer need a large car.
Last year, Giles Labelle of westboro motors (boston) gave me a ton of info (we live in ky) and gave us the knowledge to buy local almost as cheap as he could get us one...he had the best prices this side of the mississippi.
1220, Pkg #1, OK'd 5 colors and pretty much all interiors. Realistically told 2-4 months. Ordered a couple days ago from Toyota of Nashua. I was shown the wait list by our salesmen. It looked like around 40 entries for June, with about a third of the May orders complete. The April page was ripped off and I'm assuming they're all done. Very many 'HG' (Pkg#2) orders. There was one other pkg#1 ahead of us. I know the base model isn't commonly distributed, but also believe the dealers make more, and attempt to sell more, on #2-#6. The list was copied, handwritten and highlighted to show completed orders. It was like a reservation list at a restaurant. Is this crude/common, or what? I wonder how this process works and how much goes upstream, or how much inter-dealer negotiation takes place to swap cars and fill orders? For all I know, its random.
Hey All, Found this list through google and love it. I just got in line at Rockingham Toyota in Salem, Ma and put a deposit down. I asked for a Package 4 or a Package 2 touring. And listed several colors. Toyota of Watertown is saying they are getting them quick and could have me one in like 2 months. Any experiences to share?
Last week I was told Packages 2, 5 and 6 are coming in to the Northeast. As I ordered a Package 3, it is gonna be a while.
Who has waited the longest! I must be somewhere near the top of the list. Ordered a Touring, Package 6 on April 21st. Still waiting!
Acton Toyota seems to have some, but the prices listed on their site look pretty high (like $27K for not sure what package, but definitely not a 6). I don't know how negotiable they are.
Put Deposit down in mid-july at Bernardi in Framingham. Was told 4 months. Ira in Milford said same wait. I am looking for pkg 5 or a touring. don't care which
