    Hello,
We own a 2006 Prius, package #2 or #3, and we absolutely love it. The only problem is that unlike our other vehichles, it does not automatically lock the doors when you began to take off. We love this feature in our other vehichles. Is there any after market product that will do so without compromising any of the factory features in any way? If so, what are the advantages or disadvantages to the modification?

There's a company called Coastal Electronics which sells an Auto Door Lock which locks when you go over 15mph. It won't re-lock if you stop to drop someone off and don't power off. I have one and it's nice to have and was easy to install.

That looks pretty easy to install.

So how much does it cost? Any idea if it works on a 2007?

It's $65 and will work for the 2007. It won't work on a pre-2004. That one locks the doors when the driver's seat belt is fastened and unlocks when the driver's seat belt is unfastened.

Do you have any pictures of the installation? I miss that feature on our 2007. I wish they locked as soon as you put it in gear. It is hard to remember to lock the doors now after having auto door locks on our last few cars. When my wife goes shopping I felt better with auto door locks as standard equip.

Couldn't have said it better myself....after having auto door locks in my Matrix (locked when you put it into gear) for years I miss this feature and find I never rememeber to lock the doors now. Coastel's EV Mod was simple to install, especially after seeing 'Thunder's' Video, anyone have something similar for the Auto Door lock install?

I might still have the instructions. Coastal's mods come with very well made instructions. If not, maybe I'll pull the cover off and take a picture of where it's installed.

If you're talking about the video on the Coastal's EV mod, it's basically the same. You remove the lower glove box and the far right AC vent cover. You attach the connectors to some of the wires, then plug the leads into those. It took about 30 minutes.

You'll find it takes less than an hour to install.

That's Good information. If it goes in the same area the EV mod went, then installation should be a snap! Thanks.

It does go in the same area. As a matter of fact, one of the connectors even goes to the same wire.
