This is one of those products that I didn't realize I wanted until I installed one in my own car and started using it. Nichole loves it, and even as a guy I find myself using it a lot for things like sunglasses when I get out of the car, my wallet while driving, my cell phone, etc.

I bought one of these from another source - a couple of months ago.. very cool.
Works for other items also... cameras, gloves... etc.

I am confused! Where does this go? Do you have a picture of it installed?

I cannot remember the price offhand, but you can buy kydex material (which this tray looks like) and warm it up in an oven, bend it to your desired shape, let it cool, then trim to finished specs (or if you're good at measuring, cut it before bending it).

You can find Kydex at knife-maker supply houses.. just do a search online for kydex.
It's real easy to work with.. I have made a couple of handgun holsters with little trouble and much cheaper than buying one (I have experience with making leather products also).

Not saying this tray mentioned above is not worth buying, just that you can get kydex and make more custom items than you might really want! :)

Good suggestion but there are people like me who are too lazy to do this.

Hey Danny, how many of these do you have in stock?

I believe the manufacturer of the product has plenty in stock. I believe their words were "enough to keep up with demand".

What's the story with the thicker one for only $1 more?

If that $1 difference signifies the insignificant amount of substantive difference between the two, or even if there was a lot of difference between the two, I would have thought why bother coming out with two models?

Danny, What would be the shipping charges to send two of the thicker ones to Hawaii?

Tom, I might need to change the pricing structure on those in the future, but for now I'm trying to get a few of each type out in the public so that we can decide which one is a better product for most people.

I've attached a couple of pictures from my car - I think the tray looks really good with the grey interior. The picture of the 2 trays has the "standard" one on top and the "deluxe" on bottom. The "standard" version does have some flex to it while the "deluxe" is much more rigid. Somewhat comparable to the difference between the standard Toyota stiffening plate and the BT stiffening plate.

The marks that you see in the picture on the front plastic cover are from when I tried to install one of these trays using a previous design. I worked with them to trim it down so that it is much easier to install and doesn't mark up the front cover.

Jiipa, I have a question out to the manufacturer for you regarding shipping prices. It shouldn't be too much more since they already use USPS and the product wouldn't have to be shipped to us first, then out to you like we have with other products that you have ordered.

Just heard back - no additional shipping costs to Hawaii (or Alaska).

Oh yeah... I understand this completely... I have bought things sometimes that I know I could make myself or buy some sort of substitute, because it's easier to buy it than build/modify it, quicker, and for me... sometimes the end result of all my work will never look or function as good as the original product.

I think the tray is one of those really simple ideas that actually makes sense.
Back in the 70's, we used to build these wooden boxes and stick in that empty space between the console/hump and the dashboard.
Sometimes we'd even incorporate 4" paper-cone speakers so we could bump up our sound on the old 8-track!:D

The description asks if you are driving a newer Prius. Does it work on a 2005?

Yes, by "newer" it means 2004-2009.

Just got this for the wife. She absolutely loves it, even though she said she didn't think it'd work or would be worth it when I floated the idea.

Fits very tightly. Works as designed.

Received my cargo tray in the mail yesterday. Fantastic item, should be standard to the Prius! I spent the extra $1 for the sturdier "deluxe" version. Thanks much, Danny!

Does the Prius Shop ship to Canada? When I tried to set up an account, the form asks for "State/Province." However, the drop-down list for country only shows "United States." I'm confused!
