I'm about to buy a prius and i have seen to dash colors while doing my research. One is the gray beige one and the second is the black. I want the black but how do i get it, do the different colors come with the different fabric choices or what. Also i'm getting a Mica blue prius so i was wondering which color of fabric you would recomend. Thanks:rockon:
There is only one dash color. Most people here call it black, but it's really more of a charcoal. As for the door trim (which matches the seats) you get gray or light beige (bisque). The only fabric choices you get are leather or cloth, and no choice of patterns on the cloth. There are ways to get different leather -- do a search here.
The differences in the pictures are exclusively due to lighting and glare. The interiors are probably the same color. It looks like the bottom picture may have been taken with a polarizing filter to minimize the glare. There must also be a lot of Photoshopping done on the bottom picture, since I doubt you could have a car doing 55 mph without a driver in the seat.
Maybe it is just a trick of lighting with the photos??, I noticed that if you put that Armor All cleaner on the dash is appears to look much darker and shinier than normal.
the thing is i've seen a lot of pictures with the similar color dash. Also this is completely unrelated but does package 2 come with a backup camera.
so nobody has any idea where this dash comes from because every time i enter bisque interior on google images i get this kind of dashboard
Yes, that picture is an official picture from the Toyota site: Toyota Prius - 2008 Pictures & Photo Gallery But if you'll look at another picture, one from the outside looking in, you'll see a more accurate representation. As I said above, it's not black. It's a medium charcoal, at least that's how I would describe it.
No. The light gray picture posted above is from a 2004 model. Neither picture is accurate. It's just one color: very dark gray/charcoal/light black. It is also textured, and that doesn't show in the picture.
The dash from the windshield to the vents has always been charcoal colored textured plastic. The 2004 and 2005 Prius had painted, colored, smooth plastic dashes. The part behind the stearing wheel was painted. The glove boxes were painted. The upper parts of the doors were painted. In 2006 the dash and upper doors became charcoal textured plastic, crinckled and different from the upper dash. The Bisque interior refers to the color of the lower doors and the carpet, not the dash. The painted plastic in the 2004-5 had a tendency to bubble and peel when exposed to skin oils and sun tan lotion; no touch-up paint available, you had to buy new parts to repair. Unless you live in a very clean city, Bisque is a difficult color for a car interior.
Neither picture is accurate. The so called gray one is from a 2004-2005 model. It's inaccurate because a lot of what is shown as gray was really burgundy. The so called black one is from a 2006-2008 model. It's inaccurate because what is shown as black is really medium or dark charcoal gray. But between the two inaccurate pictures, I think the 2004-2005 picture is a more accurate portrayal of the 2006-2008 dash.
We have a 2005 and the dash is a very dark grey, almost black, but not quite. It's definitely not nearly as light as the light grey in the picture posted here. That picture looks very washed out by light. Fwiw, the car is black package 6 with a bisque interior (before leather was offered). I don't know if that makes a difference. ETA - there is no burgundy anywhere on the dash, and my dh and I got in a tiff today - he thinks it is black, me, more a very very dark grey. I'd actually call the 2nd "black dash" picture pretty accurate. I'd be willing to post pictures if anyone is curious.
I asked about the dash when I ordered mine in May. Didn't want the dark dash but wanted the lighter one. The dealer said they don't offer the light colored dash any more because of glare and reflection and a safety factor!!! Soooooo - got my new prius on Wednesday - would have preferred the lighter color but not if it's a safety hazzard. Don't know why that would be because I have never had a dash this dark and never saw a problem with the lighter one. BUT I've never had a dash so loaded up with computer stuff before either!!
And BTW - our dash is definitely black!! If my sweetie and I agree on this fact you can write it on a stone cause we seldom agree on colors.
