Invisible Bra / Stone Guard for Prius

i like mine ...after almost 4 months...cant even tell its there...it really kept the bugs off in the summer and helps with the sand being thrown on the roads as well...with a 5 yr warranty on it, any peeling, fading or coloring will be replaced free in my case...well worth it...

 

Hiya...newbie here...where can you get one those inviso bras?

Easiest way is to use the website of whatever brand of film you want and look for a list of installers for your area. The distributor may or may not offer the brand listed, but that's a good place to start off. Alternately you can call most tinting places and ask if they have paint protection film.

Too bad they don't make something like this for the windshield. I just got hit by another rock and this time it didn't just chip the glass, it left visible cracks. Luckily, it didn't crack all the way through.

 

I think we should have peel off windshield film like they have in NASCAR!!!

 

I've had my ClearBra, which is thicker than the 3M product, for a year now and still love it! I had my entire hood, front bumper, and side mirror housings covered and my paint looks factory-new.

By contrast, the hood of my friend's Prius, which doesn't have ClearBra, is stating to look a little war-torn. The hood of the '04-'05 Prius makes as good a ding-attractor as the hood on the classic.

 

Had 3M product applied in late April or early May as I recall. Had the hood, upper and lower front bumper, front of front fenders, rear view mirrors and A pillars covered. Everything looks great, no peeling, cracks or delamination. It protects the car very well.
One thing I have noticed. In the sun with polarized glasses I can see discolored stretch marks which appear or look like a blue rainbow in certain light. Without the polarized sun glasses, the film looks absolutely clear. It appears to be in the area that the installers stretched the most or is on the curves of the front bumper. It only happens in certain light conditions and with polarized sun glasses.
The protection the film offers is, IMHO, priceless.

I had a product installed here in Jacksonville, FL called ClearShield. It cost me right around $345 installed.

The business I called in my area says there are two kits, the standard kit (around $225), and the deluxe kit (around $500+).

Which package did you get?

They have an automatic cutter which they can use to apply template "kits" to your vehicle, or they can do a completely custom job.

One year after the application and I'm still pleased as punch. No nicks on the hood or bumper at all, which is a huge improvement over my poor pox-marked '02.

Having a terrible time in my area (upstate NY) even FINDING someone that does any kind of paint protector film. Several do window tinting, but that's it. They agree an experienced person should do it.

 

I've seen some attempted self-installs. Have to agree on using a professional.

I had the full meal deal installed for around $675 and other than my cats scrambling up the car in the garage (bad cat no kibbles), it looks great!!

When considering the clearbra on your cars, consider a few things:

1) Person or place doing the install (experience)
2) Which type of film do they use
3) Warranty?

Here are some films on the market
1)3M 1st Gen - Film is tough, but carries an "orange peel" effect that is most noticeable on darker vehicles - 5 yr warranty
2) 3M 2nd Gen - Film is much clearer and just as durable as its previous version - 5 yr warranty
3) Llumar - Film is fairly new....approximately a yr old. Film is fairly clear, but noticed film had adhesion problems from time to time - lifetime warranty
4) Avery - Very similar to Llumar
5) Venture Tape (Ventureshield): in my opinion, it is by far the clearer film of the bunch. Film is ultra flexible and durable and costs about the same as the rest - Lifetime warranty

 

For those in the Seattle area, here is the great place I had this work done. Tell Pat if you go there that you got his name from the Prius Chat web site. Don't know if it will matter as he is a great guy to work with regardless.
