My 2 month wait for a package II barcelona red ended today at about 2:30 pm. My friend who works at Toyota called me and told me the good news. I was there to pick up my car within 30 minutes. I know there are quite a few first impressions, but this can be for the people like me who are quite excited when they have spent the last two months on a waitlist awaiting the prius. Anyway, here goes some breakdown. Comfort/Ride=I do not really have much to compare it to, but it is VERY quiet compared to my 90 dodge shadow, and I mean very quiet. It is so nice coming to stop lights and the gas engine is off and literally hear nothing. It is almost boring driving because of the no noise (my dodge you can hear from a mile away ) I have 60 miles on the car but seems the seats are comfortable with good lumbar support. There is some roll to the car going around curves to fast, but other than that, the car handles pretty nice and the engine is quite smooth transitioning from electric to gas. Fuel Economy=Wow, all I can say is wow. My 14 miles back home from the dealership I averaged 58.9 mpg per the display. 10 miles were driven at 55 the other was a combination of stop lights and Pulse and glide (not too difficult to do). I thought during the day the hardest part in the prius was the actual pulse (just gas engine while the battery regens), the warp stealth/glide seemed easier for me then the pulse. Anyway, over the course of the day, i put on 60 miles and my end readout of the consumption was 56.8. Pretty amazing!! It was about 78 degrees and I havent even looked at tire pressure yet. Cargo space=Another A+. Lots and lots of space. The true test will be this weekend. We are going camping with the car with 4 of us. Lets see how much we can pack in. Well thats just a short update. I'm a proud prius owner and member! B
Glad to hear that you like it. I think you are one of the few who like the seats. I don't have a problem with them either, I mean they aren't the most supportive, but I don't hate them like others on here.
Welcome to Prius ownership. You'll discover even more reasons to like the car as time goes by. I've had mine for more than 6 months and still enjoy getting behind the wheel. As for the seats, I'm 6'6" tall and not exactly a lightweight. I'm always amazed when I read how some people don't like the seats. I've never been uncomfortable in the car. I've not yet taken it for an extended road trip (more than 100 miles) but am scheduled to do one this coming week. I really don't anticipate any discomfort.
I'll have to post some pics but the wife thinks I'm losing my mind over this car. She just does not understand....anyways, I'll get some over the 4th from our vacation. B
Howdy and welcome B, It is nice to see that you are enjoying your car so much. These forums are excellent resources for all facets of ownership. We are glad you are here.
