Sorry I didn't get on yesterday to announce it, but yes, gas hit the $4 average yesterday according to AAA. I will be conferring with my dog, Indy, this morning to see who the winner is and I'll announce it soon!
I admit, this happened a bit earlier than I expected it would....I figured we'd make it at least to the weekend of the 4th.
Its back to $3.99 here! But I still have a full tank of gas from when I filled up at $4.09 and dont need to fill up.
Doesn't make sense here in OH. Gas is closer to 4 dollars now..but when it was rising again last week gas dropped to almost 3.70..then when the national average actually lowered there a little, it went back up to 4. Anyway, good luck to the other 15 entrents on Sunday!
We have a winner! Indy the Cock-A-Tzu has chosen venusfire as the winner! Congrats, venusfire! Please see the attachment below for confirmation of the winner.
I know! We've been at $4.50 for weeks here... listening to everybody grapple over when it'll reach $4. What was Malorn's guess?
According to radio news and FuelGaugeReports, the national average officially went over $4 per gallon on or around June 10th. So, I guess this contest is over. Congrats to whomever picked the right date. I expected it to happen in July, but I guess I underestimated the greed factor. Thanks. -- Brian
Greed? The only greed is us ... the U.S. citizens that cry about high gas, while Asia & Europe are runninig double our costs. It's simple supply & demand. T boon pickens has frequently done talks about the simple fact that if you don't have enough to go around, the only way you can reduce consumption is jack up the price ... or freeze prices, and go back to rationing like in the 1970's. Too many people want to blame. There aint no oil conspiracy. Congress 'investigates' with each increase, over the years. Is congress in on it too? Ok Danny, next game ... time to re-title the thread, "$5 gas". My guess is September.
Isn't it time to change this contest to the "$5.00 a gallon gas contest" or maybe the "$3.00 a gallon gas contest" ? I think the probability of either is pretty even.
we should be so lucky to go down to $3 the next time we see $3 gas is when electric cars are the majority
The local Arco went down to $4.52. Meanwhile I have 52.3 mpg on my tank. And I have to take the car in for an oil change tomorrow. You know what that's going to do to my mileage, don't you?
I know it won't be believed, but it actually went down in my area. I have to put premium in my infiniti, and last week it was $4.699/gallon. This morning when I filled up again it was $4.639/gallon. Not much less, but less, at least. These are Costco prices, so they aren't indicative of other gas stations in North Orange County, CA.
