Has anybody here gotten on the waiting list for a Prius in Texas in the past month or so? I just went to Toyota of Lewisville in the DFW area and they told me they are charging $6k over sticker. I can sit for months on a waiting list, but I'm certainly not willing to pay that much over sticker. I was just hoping there was somebody in Texas who has recently negotiated a price within a couple thousand of sticker price and could tell me where. ---Paul
Round Rock Toyota is selling at msrp. Their waiting list is quite long but to me the wait is worth it to not pay above msrp. They also were letting you put a deposit down & lock in the price. Don't know if they are still doing that or not.
I'm not in DFW, but Tejas Toyota here in Houston is where I am getting mine for (they tell me now) MSRP and have been on the wait list for 4 weeks. I am very happy with them. BUT I have heard their waitlist is huge now, not sure what their recent negotiations are like.
Hi ... I went to Toyota of Lewisville (Rene Isip) also, Two weeks ago I asked the salesman flat out if they would sell at MRSP .... he said yes .... after two hours of waiting for a appraisal for my 4 runner ... they quoted me 6K over sticker and 2K under my tradein price I got from Carmax !!!! I was pissed Last week I drove to Little Rock and went to Northpoint Toyota, traded in my 4runner and I'm on a list foe a seaside pkg 6. Quoted a 2-3 month wait. Worked with JC in the internet department and Mike in sales If you want to stay here in Dallas .... contact Randy at Pat Lobb Toyota off 75 in McKinney .... they are charging $982 preparation fee but thats all I,m told and they appear honest.
You won't be able to negotiate - MSRP is the best anyone can do right now (that I'm aware of). Unfortunately the choice is either to wait or pay a 'market adjustment'. I got on the Round Rock Toyota waiting list in late May - not sure where I am now, but believe I'm in the first 10 - however another poster recently said the list now exceeds 100+. Case in point about pricing: Round Rock apparently got several 2007s in (with varying mileage) and they were selling them for $30-35K. I think getting on a waiting list is your best bet, but you may get a 2009.
By negotiate I meant bring the dealer down to a price close to MSRP. I know there's no way I'm getting below MSRP. I contacted Pat Lobb Toyota in McKinney and they told me they are charging MSRP still. Don't know what their waitlist is like. If it's a refundable deposit then I'll jump on it even if the list is really long. That way if the third gen ends up looking good, I can take back my deposit and go for that one instead. Out of curiosity, are the deposits generally refundable or not? The only one I have asked is Toyota of Lewisville, and theirs is non-refundable, but they were also trying to charge me $6k over sticker, so I wouldn't be surprised if other more reputable dealers were allowing refundable deposits.
There is a Black pkg 5 base that is unspoken for in Searcy Arkansas.....(Orr Toyota) due here next week if anyone is interested. The salesmans name is Mike Robinson.......just got mine from them on Friday after waiting only 1 week. They sale for MSRP.
Round Rock is a refundable deposit. At least it was. Which totally made it worth all of this. Refundable deposit & locked in price. The bad-long wait. I signed my contract on May 1st & am still waiting but hopefully it won't be to much longer. I have heard that some dealers are going to close their lists soon so I would definitely get my name on somewhere! Good luck.
I just picked up a new 2008 Prius b/c someone backed out on their deposit, no waiting for me =) Price: $28,500 approx. after TTL (in Houston) Options: Pkg 2 Others: Factory Window Tint Warranties: Extended 100k Warranty I had other rebates totally $4000 but that was from 3rd party. I probably paid too much but the 4000 in rebates I received was worth it IMO.
