Okay, I'll be honest when I say I bought my 2008 Prius for not only gas $ savings, but environmental impact as well. Never did I figure that I would absolutely FALL IN LOVE with this car. It started the day that we picked it up from the dealer. There it sat in the front window of the showroom with a SOLD sign hanging from the rearview. I felt SO special knowing that I was taking it home. It has given me nothing but pure pleasure since bringing it home. And we haven't even approached the gas pumps yet. What's not to LOVE about a Prius?
:welcome: Welcome to PriusChat and the world of Prius ownership. I adopted Priapus almost 4 years ago and I still love it every day.
Welcome! I must say that my initial interest in the Prius was partly the gas mileage, but once I had test driven one I fell in love with the look, feel and technology. Like Biff in Back to the Future, with the smart key in my pocket, "only I can start this car".
:yo:Nice to see a Georgian on the forum ! Born and raised in Coffee County(Douglas) ! If your like me I smile every time I pass a Gas station and especially when I leave ! This car just puts a smile on my face every time I drive somewhere. Any questions just ask - everyone is very helpful here.:yo:
I fell in love with my neighbor's Prius when she got hers a couple of months ago, especially after she let me drive it. I decided I had to have one and was planning to wait until the 2009's came out. But I had a great opportunity to get a 2008 Pkg 6 in SPM now so I decided to take the plunge now. I only had a 3-week wait and I picked up my little gem this morning. I am completely smitten!
i'm very happy YOU'RE very happy with your Prius, CherylE ... it must have been a most enjoyable experience; walking up to the show-room and seeing the "SOLD" sign hanging from what you KNEW was, in fact, your new car! my wife and i continue to wait for "THE CALL" ... it's been a bit more than four weeks since we placed our order for a Pkg #3 / Base in Seaside Pearl with Bisque fabric. which color and fabric choice did you drive home in???
I never really cared too much about my vehicle - it was something that gets me from point A to point B. I liked my first brand new car - a 1996 Toyota Tercel, manual transmission - but when it was time to trade it in I wasn't overly upset. But I do LOVE my Prius. It's an awesome car, I love to drive it and I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle.
It's an amazing car, isn't it? It's great for the environment, the gas mileage is awesome and to top that, it has all of the neat "techie goodies". I've had mine now for a few months and it's the first car I've had that I absolutely love!! Congratulations!
I have owned my Prius since March 31st. While I have had VWs that I 'thought' I had loved! It is 'different' with the Prius! (silly!) This is just an amazing car. It is actually hard to list what about it is best. The smart key, the mileage, the computer, the whole package. Glad to hear you 'love' your car. Everyone I have ever spoken to about their Prius answers in the same way.... 'I love my Prius'. Good luck with it!
I tell people I haven't felt like this about a car since my '69 Mustang and well, I had a few youthful memories to go with that one. But as a mature person, this is the kind of love that lasts!!
Congrats! We've had our Prius two months and still get dopey grins every time we see her in the parking lot...and, of course, when we fill up the gas tank.
I haven't seen too many posts from my neck of the woods (MA) and I was on another forum that had some real horror stories about winter driving. The jest of it was if you didn't have a super duper set of winter tires an inch of snow could strand you. Any of you guys know anything about winter driving a Prius? I know she's lighter than my other cars were.
Jburelle, I lived in the boonies of New Hampshire when a colleague of mine bought her Prius in 2001 or so. She still loves it and seems to have no trouble driving when it snows. I assume she puts good snow tires on it in the winter (as I did with my Jeep at the time).
one thing i'll tell you... be very careful! it's all too easy to decide to take roadtrips or random excursions because it's just so fun! (not to mention affordable) my car is two weeks away from turning one year old and i'm fast approaching 30,000 miles! i just can't stop driving it!
