I have an 08 Prius and I have read in the owners manual that it says not to tow anything with the car. I am wondering though if by any chance it is safe to tow a 500lb sport bike behind my car. I'm towing it from Oregon to Arizona and before I actually do it I figured I would ask to see if anyone else has done this or thinks I could get away with it?
I would advise against it. If you cannot ride the bike, ship it. There are many different companies out there that specialize in motorcycle shipping.
would be no problem at all as long as you have the proper hitch. look at it this way 3 adults weigh more than 500lbs
Yes there are a few here who tow. There is a yahoo! group called priustrailers dedicated to the topic. And yes, Toyota specifically does not recommend towing w/Prius. My primary concern would be your skill at driving this setup (no offense intended), because that is an expensive toy to pull in trail.
