I live in St. Paul, MN and this seems to be the closest Prius group to my location. I am looking for a 2006 blue or red Prius with package #4. My dealer says they don't make package #4 for our area (we are considered to be in the Chicago area). Has anyone seen package #4 at any Illinois, WI, or MN dealers?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(avipet @ Dec 20 2005, 07:28 PM) </div> Packages are no longer identified by numbers. Go to the Toyota website and you'll find the 2006 packaging options.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(SSimon @ May 23 2006, 02:00 PM) </div> Actually they are. Look at http://www.toyota.com/prius/options.html, and it shows both. For instance, my GY is a package #1. My dealer preferred to use the letters instead of the numbers, but you need to know the number when searching for information. They do have some limitations on which packages are available where, for reasons I do not know. But this is kind of getting off-topic. This is the welcome thread.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Nov 18 2004, 11:12 PM) </div> My 2006 Prius hums along very well. last week I got a whopping 52 mpg traveling between Palos Heights and Darien. I have achieved a little over 6200 miles since March. But the last few days I have noticed a strange problem. When I make a tight turn as if to pull into a parking space, the radio shuts off for a few seconds and then returns. The problem I have does not show up all the time, hence the real problem to get it fixed. Has anyone else had this occur to their car?
Now THAT'S and interesting one. I am not an electrician nor an auto mechanic. My opinion means nothin'. But it sounds like a faulty connection. I'm wondering if there's something in the hard turning of the steering wheel that pulling a wire loose. Does it happen when turning both directions? Is it Radio, XM, CD, tape, or all of the above?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Aug 17 2006, 04:13 PM) </div> It has only happened twice so far. I was turing into a parkling space. First I turned left, and the second time I turned right. I had the FM on both times. The service cnter at Orland Toyota said this has occured in other models but not the Prius to their knowledge. Kinda throws you off when the sound blacks out...like all of a sudden you are not in control.
Do me a favor and post this in the General Forum for everyone to take a look at and try to troubleshoot. I'd like to hear what other's say. Just copy and paste your first post into a new thread.
Brad in Evanston, here. Just wanted to say howdy to my fellow Chicagoans out there, and particularly other tree-huggin' Evanstonians. Just picked up a gently used '05 with Nav, and only 17,600 on the odo. I've ordered the DICE ipod adapter, so if anybody who has installed one would like to stop by next weekend and make sure I don't short out my car, feel free to PM me. Take care!
Brad, welcome to PriusChat and the wonderful world of Prius ownership. If you're in no hurry to install the DICE, I'm sure we can get some help at our next meet-up at Grossinger Toyota. I'll add a Prius to the MemberMap for you. The MemberMap is part of our website: http://www.chicagopriusgroup.com I'll just throw a car in there. If you want a more accurate location, PM me via PriusChat or shoot me an email via the website with a better pin-point location. Even better, pull up your Lat/Long using your Navigation system since that's how I place the markers.
Hi Tony, I enjoy the many contributions you make to the Main forum as well as the Chicagoland Group. For me you could add a Barcelona Red to your map, just above the city of Aurora. Thanks.
Done. If you would like me to make the location more accurate, send me a PM with an approximate location. I will not put a mark on someone's actual real address.
Hi Everybody, I am a happy Prius ( 08 pkg 6) owner. I have owned it a little over a month. Gosh, I love this car! I am interested in learning a lot from other owners here. Living in Rockford, I am not exactly next door to many of you but I hope to meet many of you some day soon. I plan to go to the Hybrid Fest in Madison. Tony, thanks for getting this forum started. Thanks all for a minute of your time. "smilin" Ray
Hey Tony, I have read many of your posts on Prius Chat and have appreciated your wealth of knowledge. I live in the South Loop and I have been hoping to find a service garage to do maintenance on my Prius when the intervals call for maintenance. Specifically, I am looking for a place that knows Prius cars well, one that will allow the customer to bring in oil and a filter for oil changes, will do tire rotations or even add-ons that I read about. I was using Toyota to service my SUV but had a bad experience with them during my last maintenance visit. I am not looking to cut into the service person's bottom line. I would like a service person to really understand the Prius and be willing to use certain oil and filters (and I would pay for the labor) or if they would purchase the correct brand and the correct amount that would be great, too. There is so much great information on this site and am hoping to utilize the information to service or new car. Thanks, Terry
I am planning to buy the Prius 2010 II model in Chicago area. Can anyone post the honest dealer in Chicago area(especially the price)? Thanks!
You mean there's only one? Congrats on your decision. I try to not play favorites on dealers and there are enough people who have had good and not-so-good interactions with so many dealers. The Chicago Prius Group has an arrangement with Jabber and KFern that we receive a referral bonus if the purchaser was referred by us. They are both Prius-owning members of Priuschat and you can PM them. I'm sure others will weigh in with their thoughts. Good luck and because to check out Chicago Prius Group where I'm currently working to populate the 2010 information.
