Too laTe. I've already used the word. Does PriusChat have a rule or guideline specifying how many posts one must accumulate before using the word, "troll?"

Just because I have few posts in this particular forum, one should not assume that I'm a stranger to online conversation.

A troll is a troll is a troll. Here, or anywhere else.

This just sounds like a person upset that they have a V8 monster truck that they cannot unload and are jealous of the Prius owners. Someone that claims they could still afford $16 a gallon gas would be a millionaire and would not bother lurking around on the internet message boards as they have more pressing things to do, like make more money..

This is nothing but a troll,,,, he/she has described just about every driver on the road and they are not all driving the Prius.

It's funny, but I also observe all the same driving behaviors every single day described by the OP.....and I never see a Prius. Sometimes I think I will be the only Prius on the roads I travel once mine comes in.

Same here... I drive the same way, and NEVER get honked at. Granted I'm in a larger GS430, maybe that's the difference?

I think the honkers and people annoyed are nothing but haters???? I know every time i see a Prius I get jealous, and recognize they're the smart ones. :(

I always drive the speed limit, except superhighways, then take it up to 60MPH. 99% of cars are passing me, of course I catch up on slow-downs and trafficlights. I do come to a full stop at the stop sign. If others are perturbed or even ( pissed off ) that's not my concern, these other drivers have a very serious illness which they have not diagnosed. Apparently the majority of American think it is all right to speed, roll thru stop signs, flip off, cut off traffic, etc. I sometimes wonder, what happened to our country? Driving is symptomatic of other, more serious ethical or moral deficiencies. So, three cheers to all PRIUS drivers and other fuel /air saving hybrid owners.:D

I have heard of drunken GI's in foreign ports burning $5.00 bills. None of these GIs were millionaires but thought they could impress the ( lowly slopes ) of thier inherent American weath and superior ways. This $16.00 a gal guy is of the same mentality.

hm. most prius i see are going faster then other cars... i am the slower one.
it is almost like here in NH and MA, they bought the car to drive exactly as they
did before but to get better gas mileage. But then MA drivers were always known
to be snotty brats on the road with a me, me, me attitude. They are moving up
north now days because they made such a mess of their state. :-(

so i am not see this slow annoying prius driver thing around here.

but i do agree, this forum, when it comes to prius drivers do seem to have a big
amount of accidents. it seems there is a post or two every week about damage :-|

Why won't you guys just pass? That's what the dotted line is for, so you know when it's OK to pass! I was happily traveling the speed limit this morning on my way to work when someone who was probably late drove up my...well...rear end. So when we got to a passing zone, I slowed down so they could pass and even motioned them around. No cars coming, perfectly safe, but they wouldn't pass, even when I dropped my speed to 15 below the speed limit. So I started driving like I do when there's no one behind me and ignored them the rest of the trip. I guess it's all my fault because I drive a Prius.

Mr. troll above has a clear case of Prius Envy...no doubt about it.

    Zhe Wiz

P.S. I'll start driving faster (ie, I'll start exceeding the speed limit) when you start paying for *my* gas.

Prius drivers are bad? I'd say 99% of the American population doesn't know how to drive a car worth a @#@^
It doesn't matter what car they drive.

    - Tailgating is not going to make me drive faster, just because you ride one inch behind my bumper. I will only slow down to get you off my back.
    - Cutting me off is not going to spring an emotion from me anymore, maybe the first two years after I moved to the US, but the knowledge how bad the drivers are here, calmed me down and made me resign to the facts.
    - After I'm done passing and I moved back into the right lane, you blasting by me at 90mph after you accelerate hard is only going to make me laugh after you wasted 1/2 gallon to speed up like a madman and being stopped by the heavy traffic ahead.
    - You staying in the left lane at 45mph I can only shake my head at, because you will cause an accident sooner or later. But I know, Left lane - passing lane law and any other traffic law doesn't mean anything to most of the drivers in the US, it's not very convenient to follow proper traffic laws.

And don't get me started on drivers on their cellphones who try to swipe me off my motorcycle almost on a weekly basis.
And I don't even want to mention the close calls when I ride my bicycle. The deliberate close passes where the side mirrors almost hit my handle bars.

But that's OK, Karma is a bitch and you will end up wrapped around a tree at one point or some other inattentive driver just like yourself will T-Bone your car and take you out cold.

Some people are just like that, I suppose.

However, if he likes what he's driving so much that he wouldn't give it up in the face of $16 a gallon gas, I'm not seeing the Prius envy. Believe it or not, there's not that much of it out there. There's a certain amount of outright Prius hatred, I suspect, of a sort that no manner of attempt at education will ever fix.

If gas gets to $16/gal we have bigger problems than poor driving. I drive better in my Prius than I ever did in my Passat. The difference, is that I no longer mind getting cut-off, flipped-off or whatever. There are horrible drivers everywhere. My approach has been that the guy in the car next to me will do the worst possible thing at the worst possible time and try to avoid those situations.

    Ninous26, thanks, noted, bye-bye.

Maybe it's because the Prius has a very distinctive look and tends to stand out from the crowd--therefore, people notice it more. And people who are fuming about gas prices and want to take their pissiness out on someone are more likely to see the Prius than the hybrid Civic (which looks like any other Civic out there).

    *shrug*

I know I feel like a target sometimes.

I drive a bit slower on local roads. 35-40 mph. I just like the quiet and the smoothness. It's so comfortable, you just don't want to drive fast. Plus, I'm trying to get a feel for what the gas mileage depends on.

Maybe the Prius is the kind of car that makes you want to drive slower. That could only be a good thing.

 you bought a gas hog and spend all your pizza hut paycheck on gas! You'll never be able to pay those speeding tickets on time now!

I'm with Sheepdog on this one -- I'm just sorry he's gone and won't respond.

It looks like he got the dander up on a few of us, though. Perhaps we all need to take a deep breath . . .

Really, the concern I have with the OP's statements is his view of selfishness and recklessness. Perhaps he is complaining of a driver going 35 in a 55 zone -- that IS reckless (and, perhaps, selfish). Driving cautiously so as to save fuel and energy and to reduce pollution does not appear to me to be selfish. Driving "like normal" even if gas goes to $16/gal DOES sound selfish to me. I don't care if you can afford to pay that amount -- you are still polluting more than necessary and taking away a limited supply of energy resources from people who (obviously) need it more than you.

Am I missing something here? Does capitalism mean the same thing as "I can have it because I have the money to buy it"? Perhaps it does, but that doesn't mean it is the right thing to do.

Ooops. I'm headed toward a rant.

Time for me to take a deep breath . . .

I didn't see this posted so I will....you have Prius envy buddy! Now there, I said it and I feel better now. The only thing I race these days is getting that yellow light on the monitor up to 100 mpg...Buy a Prius and glide your way to better gas mileage...and do it in the realm of the highway's speed limit!

Funny thing is... I see some SUV/Truck drivers drive even slower than a lot of Prius drivers (ie. speed limit). Gas prices do funny things to people.... :high5:

    Hi TonyPSchaefer,
I don't need your permission to call a troll a troll. I'm not impressed by your eight thousand posts. I also don't need your permission to tell you I think you've gotten a bit carried away with yourself. Best, Bruce
