Bought from here for my 2008 Prius called Toyota they wanted 600.00 to install Went to a local place put it in for 100.00 now the problems I set my presets and shut the car off and boom they are gone. Just the weather channel on all the presets. I took it back to the guys that installed it and they said they would call the people who make it. They called me today and said yes that's a known problem with it? Wth has anyone else heard this?
I don't know anything about the Prius Sirius radio but it sounds to me that they were supposed to connect something to battery power that ended up getting connected to switched power. So as a result every time you turn off the car it's like the battery got disconnected from the radio's standpoint. I'll bet there's a battery power source somewhere under the dash (there's a thread around here somewhere about changing the dash 12V outlet from switched power to battery power or vice versa). Find that and tell them they should have connected there.
Is this the actual factory kit? It gets all its power via the harness plugged into the back of the existing radio. Does your radio retain the non-satellite presets (AM/FM)?
I bought the OEM Kit from Coastal and installed it myself using the Toyota instructions. Works like a charm! And yes, I've never lost my presets.
Must be the way they installed mine I think I will take it to another shop to have it looked at. It only plugs in one way right?
