Just to throw it out there... I recently read a post regarding lightweight/performance rims... but very expensive! here is a cheaper alternative... available in 15 and 16 inch diameters... i believe they weigh bout 10.1 lbs (15's) and 10.8 (16's). more colors available... i myself is planning to get their "redline" edition (1st pic)... w/c should go with my black prius! hope this helps!
sorry, forgot to include this.. Buy Konig Rims, Konig Helium rims, Muteki Lug Nuts: JLB Motorsports listed on the website are the prices... i think they go from 399-499 for a set (4) w/o tires..
What is the offset of the factory wheels? Konig is somewhat famous for making good to very good quality knock-offs of other manufacturers' wheels. Depending on the offset issue, this might be a very reasonable alternative to the expensive Volks.
Helium does not come in our bolt pattern (5x100) for 15". 16" tires on the market are heavier than 15". I bet Helium 16" will weight less than touring ed 16" rims.

yeah, its just for 16's ... unfortunate for others who are only looking at 15 inch wheels... but looking at the pictures on this forums... looks like 17's or 18's are the way to go, given that the prius body is kinda huge if ure looking at it from the side, having 17's or 18's (havent seen 16's with 45 series or 40 tires on yet) would look proportioned to the body. My 2 cents..

IMO it's not the wheel weight that kills us when we swap to larger diameter tires, it's the heavier tires compounded by a higher friction (higher RR) number. My 17's weigh the same as my stock wheels but the tires throw everything off and my milage suffers. Once they start coming out with some truely LRR 17" tires we'll have some real choices ro make.
I'd be willing to give up 4-5mpg if it meant I could put some Advan A046s (like on my other car) on my Prius. Unfortunately, they're 25lbs each which means 36lb/wheel.
If the wheels are 25lbs/ea then you'd be closer to 45lbs per wheel/tire combo. 17" tires are generally 19-23lbs/ea.
Where did you get the weights for the Heliums? Wheelweights.net lists the 16"s at 16.4 pounds. Also - SSR Type C's are designed for TRACK. They bend if you look at 'em funny. I'm sure the same is true for the Motegi Traklite. Unless you live where there are NO potholes (ie. NOT the northeast) I'd avoid these. I'm looking at: Enkei RS-M 16x7 (13.5 lbs) or OZ Ultraleggera 16x7 (14.8 lbs) Both at Tirerack.com. Any suggestions for light tires? John Parrette 08 Spectra Blue Mica, Pkg 6 (on order!)
I'm not sure which is more important between weight and LRR but I assume it is a combination of the two. The lightest tires I've seen where the General Exclaim UHP? tires. I don't know how they rate as far as RR though. If they are high RR then maybe a heavier tire with a lower RR would be better?
That's actually really good to know. I saw a guy with a modded Legacy GT running the traklites and they looked OK (though I don't know how long they had been on the car). I'll probably end up just buying the Volks for a few hundred more. Actually, I want new rims for my Evo, so maybe 2 sets of Volks ($4000, just for rims ).
Just to let everyone know here are the actual weights on the rims straight from the website: HELIUM SILVER 15x6.5 = 11.6 lbs 16x7 = 15.5 lbs So they are a bit heavier then the Volk's ECO's.
has anyone seen these wheels in a 5 lug? the design doesnt really allow for a 5 lug pattern, I am really curious how it looks.
