Cingular just released the new Motorola RAZR V3 for sale online. This phone is packed with features including Bluetooth camera and GSM Quad band international. Not to mention a most impressive clamshell. I have heard that motorola went to great lengths to keep this phone free of plastic so it even has a glass screen protector. The only downside to owning one of the fine electronic devices is the price of $599.99 or $499.99 with a 2 year contract. Although this is steep it is still better than all the gouging happening on ebay. Truely a cool phone. :D I want one

check out this link on the Motorola website:

It would have to carry a 5-year guarantee. Lack of plastic would be nice...

The one-piece etched metal number pad is a really nice touch. Although it's nice that it's slim, is it nice to hold in your hand? or should one just relegate to hands-free sets?

Actually, the price on eBay is for an unlocked phone. The reason you can get this phone for $500 from Cingular is because you have to agree to sign a contract. The unlocked phones on eBay can be used on any wireless network in the world without signing a contract.

I want this phone, but I will wait til the price comes down and see how it works with the Prius first. Anyone willing to try it first?

    Where did you see it?
It's not on the Cingular site.

According to Motorola, it has all the bluetooth capabilities that the V600 and more. The V600 works fine with the Prius.

hmm, isn't there a problem w/ the V600 and uploading your phonebook to the car? like it can't do it at all, or it can only do 1 contact at a time? i might be wrong, thought i heard this...

I have a V600 and I have been completely unable to upload any phonebook data whatsoever. I hope this won't be a problem with the RAZR V3

As far as I know, you'll only be able to upload one entry at a time with the V3. I can't test it yet since my Prius hasn't arrived.

Has anyone tried the RAZR with the Prius yet. I have a Bluetooth phone but I like this styling. It really isn't as thin as it looks in the pictures. A little wide for my pocket.

My roommate has this phone and I took it out to my prius just to give it a test. I seemed to work fine for sending and receiving calls. It also allowed me to transfer a call in progress from the phone to the car and vice versa. I did not test the phone book transfer however, so I am unable to say if that works. Overall it seems like a nice phone. I've been teasing my roommate to trade it to me for my older, non-bluetooth phone.

Someone in the 2G forum said it only uploads one listing at a time.

I have the RAZR V3 and just received my Prius 2005, Seaside Pearl, Package #6, and the phone only uploads on entry at a time.

It's not a defect or bug, per se, it's just the way that Moto's were designed.

I've also got a V3 and 2005 Prius #6. Same experience here of uploading one number at a time. Even trickier, if you've set up your V3 phonebook with multiple numbers per entry, the Prius will only accept one of those numbers. So either you make a new entry on your phone or your car manually, or set the main number you call that person as your primary on the V3. A bit of a pain, but not a big deal since I only talk to a few people on my mobile, and then only mobile to mobile.

Apparently the problem ISN'T with the phone it's the car. :(

Someone with a BMW has the RAZR and is able to upload the entire phonebook at a time, PLUS, whenever he gets in the car, the car phonebook and the phone synchronize.

Yes..the phone rings through the speaker as long as you DON'T set the phone to silent or vibrate

Sometimes the caller id shows up??? Don't know why.I just look at my phone when it rings.

The signal reception matches that of my V3 also. Everything works pretty well....not perfect...but pretty close.
