This discussion brings up an interesting -- to me -- question. Does Toyota sell Prii in yellow for fleet taxi sales? How much would it cost to have a car completely re-painted? I can foresee two extremes; * the Earl Schieb Special, where they just tape off the windows, lights, etc., * a complete job where they disassemble the car to paint the inside of the hood, hatch, doors, etc. Here's a Prius with a similar non-OEM base color the I've seen from time to time in the Fells Point section of downtown Ballamer: http://priuschat.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9879&stc=1&d=1213530315 There's a whole lotta stick-on graphics there, but underneath it's taxi-yellow.
Yes, there are real-honest-to-god-yellow pri taxis out there. Costs for custom paint on a Prius (or any car) turn on how fancy you want to go. There are paints that can run $500/pint. With labor at $100 hour, that can run any where from 4 to 80 hours. There's a moderately 'pimped' and nicely customized prius paint job on ebay right now, that would easily cost $2K. Maybe too Gawdy for some, yet pretty artsy, nevertheless. Gee, thanks steve, here I was just going to say how nice the mag greay is, but now you can just forget it . . . actually, that's the color I approved of when my car pool buddy was looking, and it's what he got. I have disagree with the title of this thread. Only someone who really loves his Prius would spend the $$$ to repaint the entire car a different color. I can't say much about his taste though.
I told the dealer I wanted mine in Ultraviolet. He told me that Priuses don't come in Ultraviolet. I accused him of being the "Man" and of oppressing me. It went downhill from there.
seriously.. it it's not your car, who cares? I've seen some god awful colors on cars (usually ricers, sometimes stock GM) but I remind myself.. it's their car, their money. If they like it, more power to them. And hey, they'll never pull up to a light next to one just like it!

some places actually uses prii as taxis, so this could have been bought used as an old taxi with the decals removed although i like yellow...taxi cab yellow not so much LOL this thread should be named... weird colored prius
