I relatively new to the forum and want to thank everyone for all the help getting me up to rev on my new 2008 Prius...It's been awhile since I had a 50mpg car...My first car was a 1979 VW Diesel...not nearly the cult following of this car but I did get some outrageous offers for her back then....yes, for those who remember, we had a gas crisis back then too...of course, diesel was less than 60 cents... Anyway, lots to learn about this car. I ended up going for a black Standard #1--( of course it was the only one available at the time unless I wanted to wait 3 months or more). I've already ordered the moldings (installed!), (one for my Avalon too), stiffening plate, etc....A lot more to go...not sure I can sort of convert her to a Touring version but I'm looking at that... I will be at Hybridfest (live here Madison)so I hope to get some guidance in a few areas... Thanks again to all...hopefully all our unwanted water will be gone by then.....:rain: Sam
Welcome and congratulations! I have only had mine for a couple of weeks but I'm loving it. Cargo mat, block heater, tinted windows. G
Sam, Welcome, fellow hybrid owner! Do you plan on registering to become a Hybridfest member and do all the fun "Member only" stuff? If so, then you are going to have a lot of fun! There will be diesel guys there, too so perhaps you can reminisce about the old 79 VW. Oh... and tomorrow night (Thursday June 12th) is the Hybrid Car Cruise in over at the Middleton Quaker Steak & Lube! 5- 8 pm. There are more details on this thread in the Priuschat Wisconsin forum.
Hi Eric, Thanks for the welcome...I'm planning on registering...I'm not sure I'm ready to compete for any mpg records yet tho....I'm sure they are members who can help educate me so I can be learn to put up respectable numbers next year! I'll see if I can make it out tomorrow night...
Hopefully we'll get to meet in person tonight. Hmmm...although it's raining a bit hard here now. I'll keep watching the weather. Definitely register when you get a chance, that way you can hang out with all of us and "talk shop". No need to worry about the competition this year, but you still may want to show off you car in the "owners' Showcase". It's pretty impressive to see all the hybrids together.
