There was another thread on here in the last couple of months concerning the damage that a car bra can and will cause. You should do a search for it and read through it. I personally would never put a bra on a car. It protects against one kind of damage but creates other types of damage/problems.

??? Just read the post to this thread.

    :deadhorse:

It appears from your future mods wishes you don't have Venture shield installed. Is an update needed, or are you defending something without personal experience with the product?

Ppf Film... If You Don't Know What You're Talking About... Keep Your Mouth Shut

...because you really annoy those of us who do have the knowledge and experience in the PPF market. Having just over 13 years of design and installation experience, I can tell you that the majority of comments made regarding PPF Film and its installation are grossly incorrect.

Without going into a long dissertation, the following information is absolutely correct and if anyone would like additional information please email me at [email protected].

I would be happy to discuss any questions regarding the best films and their properties, when to use a certain film, D-I-Y Installations and general questions regarding patterning and digitizing. But, for an example...

VENTURE FILM IS NOT THE BEST... it's really easy to apply, almost anyone can install it and it looks absolutely perfect on dark colored vehicles. However, the gloss retention is horrible and will lose its gloss beginning just 30 days after installation and increasing as time goes on. This film will turn grey and cloudy in about 6 months if not maintained with Plexus and a heat gun to remove scratches. Not a good choice for a daily driver but, an excellent choice for a garage queen Carrera GT.

If anyone is truly interested in the product, I would be happy to educate you on the absolutes. Please shoot me a pm or email me.

Just stop, you are starting to be embarrassing. You don't want to spend the money...that's fine, but that fugly piece of plastic is not the best way to protect your car.

For daily drivers and longevity, I'd have to go with the 3rd Gen. 3M film. I install Venture, Llumar and 3M.

3M is by far the best film for your money!

Thank you for the input. I had the feeling VentureShield was being hyped as the flavor of the month.

PROFINISH, with more research I found you're right about having to use a heat gun/wax to retain the gloss.
Ventureshield did a two year test to show this(attached as .pdf). This could a hassle, or just part of the waxing regimen.

Below is more info on why -JUST CLEAR FILM SPEAKING- Ventureshield looks to be the best protection choice
    from these sources source1 source2

VentureShield is a clear, thermoplastic urethane film made from 100% aliphatic resin. It’s ability to resist yellowing, and offer the highest level of abrasion resistance is unparalleled in the industry.

Offering superior protection on all painted surfaces, VentureShield is so strong that we offer it with a lifetime warranty!
Leading OEM’s such as the Daimler Chrysler Corporation have recently confirmed that VentureShield has superior yellowing and abrasion resistance to any other urethane film on the market, and have started to replace their incumbent supplier with VentureShield!

The clearest film on the market
The strongest film on the market

During Nissan & Mercedes testing, the leading competitors’ film was punctured with a 9lb probe; VentureShield was not punctured until 20lb of pressure was applied. Therefore, the film is over 100% more abrasive resistant, meaning no paint damage!

The patented acrylic adhesive will withstand lubricants, oils, UV rays, and unlike the competition, also contains an anti-corrosion polymer which inhibits rust and mold growth

The answer to the question "which bra is best" is obvious.
There is no one best protection.
    1. Install clear film
    2. Install bra
One will protect what the other cannot and as a bonus will protect each other as well.

Penbed is absolutely correct!!!... There is no film perfect... it all depends upon the application.
Chrisspalding... it sounds to me as if you've just fallen into the trap of the "Vulture Film" media explosion.
I am not partial to any one brand... however, I do have a problem with film manufacturers who offer a lifetime warranty for film whose testing processes haven't exceeded 5 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone can offer a lifetime warranty... ask any installer of Venture Film how many jobs they've had to replace because of being defective. Sure Venture will offer a lifetime warranty for their film, but what you are forgetting is the poor soul who has to remove the POS film and reinstall it. They only warranty the film, not the labor to remove the crap or reinstall it. Shoot... the film cost is about $150 per vehicle for the film. The installer is the one who suffers.

The best way to protect your car is to leave it in the garage, never drive it and wipe it down with a cloth diaper every Saturday. However, I drive my car on a 6 to sometimes 12 lane crowded freeway with road debris constantly attacking the Prius hood. No thin clear film is going to protect my hood from dents better than the Prius appearance enhancing deflector period. I have no problem spending money on a hood protection product that actually protects the hood from dents.

If you have not seen the product in person on a Prius then you have no right to an opinion. If you have seen the deflector on a Prius and believe it is fugly, you obviously have no appreciation of a fine automobile appearance. The Prius has one of the ugliest front ends of any current production vehicle. The deflector lessens the ugliness and actually makes the front end more tolerable to the eyes. Additional it offers more hood dent protection than any clear film.

This is definitely not true(imo), at least for the demo I'm in: 18-35.
I can see it in your picture, your wannabe cool dent protector is fugly. Nowhere near fine auto appearance. Are you kidding me? It stands out like a sore thumb (like when an overweight woman wears spandex thats too small) and draws attention to the front end you so adamantly dislike.
    Dents? Suicide birds LMAO

Best bra? A polyurethane film of your choosing.

No, no, no. I may have explained that it in a confusing way.
Ventureshield just purposely left the film untouched on a test car for two years so it would get cloudy, then they showed how the heat gun/wax process brings back the gloss.

So you have not seen a Prius appearance enhancing hood protector in person. You are a mixed up breed. You are downing something you have never seen in person and backing up something you don't have installed on your Prius (according to your wish list)

Actually the hood deflector covers up the the one of the ugliest current production front ends with an added purpose of protecting against all the front hood dents you WILL get if you actually drive your car on a crowded freeway.

Holy Crap. So now you have to purchase a heat gun? Probably a special wax too. All the expense and time without proper hood dent protection. Why don't you just Rhino line the Prius and forget about it?

    Gentlemen,
It is time to agree to disagree.
Not everyone likes the same things.
After all, if we did all the women would want me instead of just
one (my wife of 42 years).
