Woooooo Hoooooooo!! Our new Prius is on its way! We will be getting our Mag Grey in about two weeks! We decided on a package 5 and added leather to it for a little refinement along with our economizing. oooooooooooooooooooooo pretty pretty pretty. Had a VW new beetle that got 33 mpg but since it was orange the husband seemed to have "issues" with driving it (can't imagine why!) So after five years of "buggin around" it was time to buy a more gender neutral car..... enter the Prius. You see, the hubby drives 50 miles round trip per day to work so it seemed like a natural choice. Seems to me they used to be a little boxier and funkier looking, not quite as sleek as they look now. Thank god for the beauitful new styling or getting off the teat of foreign oil would be much more painful. I'm not "green" I'm flying the bird at OPEC, there is a difference!
I didn't know you could order a Prius with a package other than #6 and still order the leather? Is this leather going to be factory-installed or dealer -installed?
I have a '08 pkg 5 with leather added. It says on the sticker Distributer Added. It looks just like the others that I have seen with leather and the gel..whatever technology.
I am curious as to why you want a 5 and not a 6. I wanted a loaded package 6. No luck finding it in my area. So I settled for the 5 with added leather.
All package 6 adds is Leather, factory leather, and its cheaper than the added leather, plus you get the console cover and armrest covers covered in vinyl instead of cloth, AND the added bonus of a Leather Steering Wheel with package 6, I went with 6 as you can tell.
It's the wife, she doesn't like leather. I think in the end we're going to get a package 6 anyway because all the Touring Priuses I find are package 6. In North Cal there are plenty of Base package 5 for sale.
I went with Pkg 5 because a local dealer will install leather with heat for the same amount I would spend on pkg6.... less leather steering wheel
