I am just wondering all you out there with aftermarket wheels, what are you doing about your TPMS? Are you just pulling them off your stocks and mounting them into your new wheels?, or just putting some tape over the idiot light? I apologize if there was a thread with my answer and I just missed it, I figure I had to ask for myself.
I just got new wheels and tires at Discount Tire and they just swapped the sensors from the old wheels to the new wheels. Everything appears to be working fine.
I put 205-55-16 Goodyear Tripletreads on MB "Tucson" wheels. I want to put up a picture or two when I get a chance. I don't know what the weight difference is. I wanted the better tires and decided to make it look nicer at the same time. I only have about 200 miles on the tires but I really like them.
Here is a picture of mine with 17x7.5 Ray's Gram Lites. Next week they are going to get a color change via powder coating and new tires.
May I make a suggestion? Could we have more people with aftermarket wheels post more pictures in this thread, please? Maybe we can sticky this to give people more ideas on getting aftermarket wheels? People like me... lol
I believe there is a thread just for that but my computer is bogged down and the search is too slow. I'll try to find it for you later. Here is a pic of mine in the mean time. Since about Nov. or so I went back to the the stock wheels to try and regain my fuel milage. The 17's and wide tires killed my milage. The great looks and extra handling couldn't make up for the fuel usage. 17" Centerline RPMs w/ 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta ASX (combo = 37.6lbs-38.2lbs) Stock combo was 31.5lbs.
Is it this -> http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-modifications/28658-new-rims-looks-good.html I saw it on page 53 of 54 i think. We cant really rename the thread anymore, huh? I was thinking.. "Post your aftermarket wheels picture(s) here." for easier referencing since changing wheels is one of the more common customizations. Btw, your car looked nice with the chromes!
The combo that I am putting together should be around 35lbs, I don't know how much of difference that should make compared to yours. I will also run a 205/45/17.
OK, I needed tires and went with BF Goodrich G-Force Sport in the 215x45x17 and had my rims powder coated a color called Soft Misty Black at the same time. It was time for a change-I like it.
My new car isn't here yet, but I plan to simply cover the TPMS light on the dash. I watch my tire pressure very closely and don't want to hassle with bringing the car to the dealer each winter when I change over to the snow tires. Attached is a picture of my old car with my new wheels. Five5Six, can we see a larger picture of your car? Where did you get the body kit from? From the tiny picture, it looks great!
