Ok, guys, we'll now do this on a month by month basis so that we can track a little easier these threads and see how temperature, overall miles on a car, etc effect MPG.

Please post the following information (include as much as possible) as you drive your car this month:

    Tank miles:
    Overall Miles:
    Avg Tank Mileage:
    Avg Overall Mileage:
    Avg Temperature:

    Thanks,

This is my first week with the car.

    Tank miles: 328
    Overall Miles: 330
Avg Tank Mileage: 50.1 on display, 50.7 calculated
    Avg Overall Mileage: 50.1
Avg Temperature: 45 degrees in the morning to 88 degrees in the direct sun today. Hard to say what the average was this week.

With around 700 miles total on the car and with temperatures in the 20-to-30-degree range, regardless of miles on the current tank the car is consistently reporting around 36 mpg.

This is all short trips. Average 10 minutes. The longest drive, all the way across town in the worst rush-hour traffic, is around 20 minutes, and I avoid rush hour. (Fargo is a nice place to live: I like being able to go to a movie downtown and get home --almost at the north edge of town-- in five minutes, or from the multiplexes in the shopping district in under 15 minutes.)

Typically the display shows 25 to 30 mpg for the first 5 minutes, and 50 to 55 mpg for the second 5 minutes. Clearly, I'd be up around 45 mpg if my trips were half an hour.

OK, here's my first tank info after having my silver BC for one week:
    Tank miles : 316
    Overall miles: 316
    Avg. Tank mileage: 46.5 mpg
    Avg. Overall mileage: 46.5 mpg
    Avg temp: 44.6 F

I filled up with 2 bars left with 7.1 gal. for a calculated mpg of 44.5. About 60% of the miles were on interstate/expressway, 40% stop & go, running errands, driving my son to baseball practice, giving everyone on the block and my dad a test ride, stopping to watch their jaws drop, etc. Two of the days this week have also been very windy (40-50 mph cross/headwinds). Looking to do better this week, except it looks like it will be colder.

  7. Last two tanks, averaged 46.5 and 47.5 respectively. Some very windy days and still fairly cold mornings. Most trips average 25 minutes one way.
Can\'t wait \'til Spring. Hopefully, the MPG will be 50+ in the Spring and Summer.

Went down to OBX from DC this weekend, so here's the info for two fillups:

    Tank miles : 362
    Overall miles: 363
    Avg. Tank mileage: 52.3 mpg
    Avg. Overall mileage: 52.3 mpg
    Avg temp: 60's
Filled up with: 3 bars remaining

    Second Tank:
    Tank miles: 457
    Overall miles: 821
    Avg. Tank mileage: 50.4 mpg
    Avg. Overall mileage: 51.35 mpg*
    Avg. Temp: 60's
Filled up with: 11 miles past last bar blinking
Difference in sea level from first tank: almost 100ft lower

*On an aside, I feel that the 'simple calculation' of mpg is probably less accurate than what the car measures. The car could have a huge amount of data that we aren't including when taking total miles / gallons filled. (such as barometric pressure, wind, temperature, etc.)

Anyway, the car is a dream. I haven't even checked the tire pressure yet, so that's probably still at 35/33 or whatever the factory set fill is.

You-all have way too much detail for me to keep up. I do calculate every tankfull but leave it at that.

    Last tank: 52.7
    Total miles 6800+-
Avg tank seems to be a low of 36 (below zero and windy) to over 55 (50 degrees and calm)

Agree with Matthew 100%, this car is an absolute dream and is almost perfect :)

    Peace

    Jan - 1105 miles / 20.6 gls / 53.7 mpg (avg $1.70/gl)
    Feb - 1329 miles / 25.6 gls / 51.9 mpg (avg $1.94/gl and soaring!)
Avg mpg over last 4 fills = 54.6
Avg temp for what we refer to as "winter" in SoCal is about 45 at night and 65 during day (although much hotter this week)
Dec - Feb gls saved over prior car = 80.5
Dec - Feb $s saved over prior car = $158

Very pleased with my first 600 mile tank. When I refueled, the gas pump did the auto shut-off at 9.5 gallons. I slowly filled to to 10.75 until I heard a gurgle in the filler tube. I drove 65 miles beyond the time the last gauge bar began flashing.

    Tank miles: 693.1
    refuel 12.38 ga. (2001-13ga.tank)
Avg Tank Mileage: 58.6 mpg by the screen / 56.0 mpg. by calculation
with temperatures in the 28 to 50 degree range
    Overall Miles: 20,668
Avg Overall Mileage: 58.5 by calculation

    until 5 miles 31 times / avg. 39.8 mpg
    5 to 10 miles 7 times / avg. 50.0 mpg
    over 10 miles 21 times / avg 58.1 mpg max. 67.2 mpg

Typically the display shows about 10 mpg for the first 5 minutes, and 50+ mpg for the second 5 minutes and 70+ mpg for third 5 minutes and after on the nearly flat road.

    Latest Tank:

    Tank Miles: 411
    Overall miles: 1233
    Avg. Tank mileage: 49.9 mpg (I dropped below 50! :( )
    Avg. Overall mileage: 50.7 mpg
    Avg. Temp: 40's
Filled up (8.339 gallons) 21 miles past last bar blinking

This time I went from two bars, to the 'add fuel' warning and blinking bar! Argh! I think my MPG has dropped mainly because of using the heater much more, and I think I got only 8.3 gals as opposed to 9.5 in OBX because of the varying temps - hopefully we'll get back to the warmer weather here soon, and mpg and gallons will be better!
