well, thank you. Because short of major mechanical/financial issues, or the appearance of a 90mpg car for same price, I'm not sure I'd sell.
I know of one couple who bought a 2008; put about 1000 miles on it; parked it in the driveway and traded it in about 6 months later on a Camry. They just couldn't get used to the "technology". Personally, I'd sell mine to buy a new one.
I didn't vote because the reason I've seen on a few Prius' around here is that people changed jobs, moved, etc... and their commute wasn't as long any more. That, or they needed a *gulp* bigger vehicle due to family size increasing.
I can honestly say that although we love our Prius and are crazy about all the technology and the mileage.. we have condidered selling it for somthing a bit more luxurious. We have an '06 package 6.. and even if we added leather, it would still pretty much feel like the commuter car it is. Now... if we could add MUCH better seats and leather... I do not know.. Anyway, the reason we haven't.. once you've gone 50+mpg... you never go back!
I would sell my Prius for one of two reasons: getting a 2010 model.. or I died and you have to pry the keys from my cold dead hands.
When I bought my 20k 06 Prius used a month or so ago, it was from a Volvo dealer. I asked him for the scoop on how they ended up with the Prius. He said the lady came in and traded it for a new, gas-guzzling Volvo SUV. Go figure. I'm thinking lottery winner, or maybe unexpected inheritance. Heck, even if I won lottery I'd be buying a HyMotion package, not a different ride
To purchase a vehicle with a height adjustable seat and a telescoping steering wheel... but for 50 mpg I choose to live with the back pain.
Based on the shocking amount of people on this forum who crashed their prius I would guess that they dumped it to get a car they are happy with again. I was shocked how many people ended up damaging their new cars around this place. Do liberals really drive that bad? (sorry could not resist ;-) ). I am glad i was not the only one who voted for that choice.
I would only sell mine if I lost my job and couldn't make the payments. Otherwise I'm driving it into the ground.
