I'm in on mud flaps, the drag info would be good. And window deflectors, especially if they dampen the thumping of the open back window.

Am I the only one that is so leary of the drag that I'm actually very hesitant to say yes? Normally, I'm all for modifications!

BUT I would like to have some curb feelers and they might suffice...(Okay, I guess I really AM getting old.)

Well, I don't know about old. I am a 72 year old retired Aeronautical Engineer and I am quite willing to sacrifice a little drag for the added protection.

hey seasalsa, any 'after' pictures yet?

The drag effect of the mudflaps did occur to me, but i've washed my prius several times and the splashes, esp in front have me worried about damage. so i think it's a great pay-off to sacrifice a little drag in exchange for protection from splash scratches/paint damage.

I've always had mud flaps and want them, but am worried about doing the install. Nervous about drilling holes in my baby - what about rust around the hole?

    Danny,

Add my name to the mud flap buy list.

    Thanks,

    Splashguards, yes. Visor, maybe.

Rain got further inside than I liked while using a drive-up ATM, and even a little bit more protection would work for me but $97C is a little stiff. If the final group price is decent, I may go for it.

Today is the first day I noticed this thread had responses. Gotta pay more attention...

I don't think that a hole needs to be drilled into the car itself - Toyota is usually pretty good with their TRD body kits and whatnot to use existing holes and fasteners.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Danny,
You are correct; the holes are all drilled into plastic parts and will pose no rust problems. On the front splash guard the bottom hole is drilled into the front end of the side mud guard. On the rear splash guard you have to drill all three holes; 2 in the rear bumper cover and 1 in the rear spoiler. Photos to follow.

Anyone know what installation involves in putting in the window visors?

I'd hazard to guess unhooking the 12V battery. ;) Seriously.

They probably just slide into the current top placement of the window with some glue or something. I have done this in a friends older volvo that asked me. But with the Prius, it might mean resetting the jam protection on the power window. ...Hopefully not though.

I am interested in mud flaps and especially some kind of window treatment that allows window ventillation(at spee) without water dripping allover the interior

Got my '04 splash guards for CAN$50 (set of 4) from Steve Christie, Parts Manager, Eastway Toyota (www.eastway.toyota.ca).
Had Steve ship via my Federal Express ground account and it was about CAN$8. Got them in less than a week.

Steve's contact info is: Tel: (519)979-1900 or e-mail is: [email protected].

Good experience with Steve in Canada. :)

Unfortunately, tho, I asked my local dealer (where I bought my Prius) what it would cost if he would install them for me since at my next visit he'd be pulling my wheels anyway to rotate the tires.... It would be an additional charge of US$75. :(

I guess I'm cracking up the car jack this weekend...

I received an email back from a Canadian source as well and will hopefully have some prices soon on parts.
