anyone know of dealers taking deposits on the 2010 yet? i know it is more than a year out and the design hasn't been announced but just curious if dealers have started taking orders? if there are 6 month waits on the current model... i wouldn't be surprised that some folks might begin to queue up for the next Prius...
Sure I put my deposit in for a 2010 model two weeks ago. List price no add on rustproofing or paint protection!
i'm pretty sure its illegal to take a deposit that way, especially since the dealer is really only bankrolling the money kinda like a health club membership. they know most people wont use it. i'd check local laws. what are they giving you for your money. are they guaranteeing you will get a 2010 prius, no. are you guaranteeing you will buy it, no. it is a futile waste of money and they just keep the interest. sorry to deflate your hopes, however if youd like to send me $500 or more i can do the same thing for you.
I just put myself on the list at my local Toyota dealer. He said I am the first one on the list for the 2010
doubtful, what r the chances of you or the dealer changing something. 100%... i mean c'mon man this car wont be out for over a year. get ur money back now and tell the dealer to stop making false promises:faint:
Think positive! This is the second Hybrid I have pre-ordered from this dealership before it was on the market.
There's nothing wrong with putting a deposit down before MSRP is announced. You make the deal and it it put in writing and the price is relative to MSRP. I bought my C5 that way. The deal was $3500 under MSRP back in 2000 for a 2001 and it was before the official pricing was announced. Those placing deposits for a 2010, if they get the deal in writing, don't know what they'll pay except that it is based on MSRP plus or minus or at.
That is some amazing brand and product loyalty. I at least want to see the interior and exterior. But I too am chomping at the bit.
I contacted my dealership. My rep said they are not yet taking orders for the 2010, but will call or email when I can place an order.
Not to be a party pooper, but don't you think it would be wise ......considering the 2010's will have new technology....to see the new Generation (I'm going to call this model Gen 1 because it is different than the existing Prius) in action before purchase? Normally I would never buy a first year line production vehicle.
I don't think that anyone has regretted purchasing their 2004 Prius... I don't see why the 2010 would be any different.
Mine said the same thing. Also, that the April, 2009 availability dates being reported here for the 2010 are not realistic. They are being told August-September.
Are you kidding. I have a deposit on one from a dealer that my family has bought cars from years and this car will be out in 10 months. This car is a snuzz you lose car, Go ahead and wait and see how far you are down the list. This a refundable deposit. Why wouldn't you put 500 down on it. If I wanted to I could flip it and make money which I plan on not doing
