It's a Silver Pine Mica package #6... The story on how we got it is kinda funny too... I have been telling folks since Susan decided on this little car that I was gonna get it this weekend. My co-workers have been saying we wouldn't find a new one, that we'd have to get on a list... I looked online at some of the local dealers and found two that had 4 or more cars listed at their place in the webpage. So we went to Maita Toyota right after work tonight, they had 4 cars on their webpage... when we got there the salesman said those cars were sold. Before they told us they said a good word about their other products. We left and went on home... it was about 5:45pm. I called Elk Grove Toyota and they said the 08 cars listed on their webpage were sold and that they wouldn't put us on a waiting list because we lived in Maita Toyota's area... Both places tried to steer us to another hybrid in their inventory... and for a $500 deposit they offered to put us on a waiting list that's running about 2 months behind right now... I get into my chair and Susan says "Hows about calling Fairfield Toyota and ask if they have any... they just had an ad on the TV" So I pull up their webpage and see that they have Prius advertised and a prominent phone number... I call and ask for a salesman... Ray is the man. I ask Ray, "Would you know if the car listed on Your webpage is for sale"... Ray says "you have to be the first one down here, they are unloading one from the truck..." Then he said... the sales manager says first come first served, how far away are you... I said less than an hour, and Ray tells me if you get here before they get it out of the detail shop you can buy it. I told him I am leaving Sacramento now. Susan and I haven't eaten... or really sat down to rest after the day's work... but we leave... We get into West Sac and my phone rings... I hand it to Susan... it's Ray... "how far are you away" he asks... She tells him and says we're coming with our checkbook and he better not be yanking our chain... Ray says he'll take the credit information over the phone... to start the process. I said do it... He called three more times on the drive to the west side of Fairfield... Ray greeted us as we pulled in... He then said the car is still over in the detail shop, lets go look at it... We did... When Susan saw it in the distance she said she liked it... she rode in back for the test drive down the block a ways... it was showing 10.2 on the odo... I was comfortable, she had plenty of legroom... and said the ride was very nice in back... she then said "we didn't really need to take it on the freeway... we'll take this one." Finally got out of there at 9:15. I drove it home without a hitch. It was a long day...
Good decision! You will enjoy this car like no other. There is a wealth of information on PriusChat that will increase your enjoyment and save you money (except if the modification bug gets you -see below!). Lee
Congrats. It always pays off to be on the right place at the right time. Enjoy your Prius. My aunt is still on a waiting list until the end of next month. Regards.
Welcome amm0.., I did something like this back in early 2006, but it took 10 days for the car to actually get to the dealarship. When I did the money down stuff it was on a ship in the middle of the Pacific.
Did your wife want the Prius regardless of the color? I went in looking for Barcelona Red #6 (mid-grade model) and drove a seaside pearl #2. I saw the silver pine mica and didn't really like the color but preferred the seaside pearl than barcelona red but was set on a package 6. The dealer hunted for about 1 hour and could not locate a seaside pearl #6 anyone was willing to give up. I was willing to wait but the dealer offered me the touring silver pine mica for the mid-grade. Silver pine mica has definitely grown on me however when I see a seaside pearl I wish the dealer could've gotten me one. However, I'm impatient and didn't want to wait and glad I didn't considering how many people are waiting 2+ months and not guaranteed the color or package they want anyway. Now I'm trying to convince the husband to get a Prius over any other hybrid. He likes to drive it and thinks the MFD is cool. We'll wait for 09s for him.
We didn't want a red, orange or yellow car. She's partial to Silver/Pewter, and I'm liking Greens and Blues... This car sorta matches her eyes... and she was acting all :cheer2: when she saw it from a distance. If you can wait for the car you really want, I would. I wasn't in a position to keep waiting... I needed another car... my Vette is going to need some work before I can drive it around town to work again.
Ours was fully loaded, everything they could cram in it, and I bought the maint and the extended warranty stuff too... 7yrs and 120K We put $10 down and took their financing for the remaining $24K at 4.44% for 48 months
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette had a front-page story today on the rush to buy smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. Quoted a manager from the place we bought ours, who said not only is there a three-month wait for a Prius, but customers are dismayed that the SUV's they bought four years ago for 40 grand are bringing only 15 now in trade-in... Our experience was this: test-drove a Prius in late September, when they had at least two dozen on the lot (but not exactly what I wanted). Went back in late October, told them what we wanted. Luckily, the exact car was coming in around Thanksgiving as part of their 2008 inventory. Put a down payment in, and that was that. I'm glad we didn't wait until spring.
If you only put $10 down and financed $24K for a fully loaded Prius that is one hellava great price ... on the other hand if you put $10K down and financed $24K for it, that is one hellava price!
Ummmm... I missed putting the "K" after the $10... My error Bra... :noidea: It was more than we were looking at initially... but the frau loved the way it looked, and enjoyed the ride in the back seat as much as the CTS a friend of ours has.
